  1. Evans has a sale on of Boots and Shoes. Can be a bit frumpy but some styles look ok and a lot have big reductions and large sizes. http://www.evans.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CatalogSearchResultCmd?langId=-1&storeId=12553&catalogId=20554&beginIndex=0&searchTermScope=3&searchTermOperator=LIKE&searchType=ALL&sort_field=Relevance&searchTerm=sale+shoes+boots+-+size+8
  2. A bit off topic for heels4men, but close enough... To celebrate the Rocky Horror show coming to MK theatre they are having a fancy dress and Rocky Horror Karaoke at MK Centre this Saturday the 19th Sept. I will be popping up there for an hour or so to take a look. Anyone else going to see what's happening?
  3. Following on from the Alton towers link... A few years ago we went to Thorpe park with a friend of my wife and took all the children. My wifes friend put her daughter in some heels so she would meet minimum height requirements. Due to the carefully picked staffs diligence she got on all but one ride, where she was spotted as wearing heels and not allowed on. The story about the Unions and heels has been rumbling on for a while now. Someone is obviously justifying their job with that one.
  4. More wedge wearing today. This time at Interchange Retail park in Bedford. An hour or so around there and also a craft shop nearby in Kempston. Then over to MK for another shop my wife wanted to buy some stuff in. All in the Next wedges of the first post. Lots of time in my heels lately then.
  5. Walking in 4" heels for any length of time is something to be applauded, wearing them enough to wear out tips is certainly an acheivement. As for the exercise thing, anything that gets me off my lazy butt has got to be good, and dog walking in my own heels has knocked a few pounds off me so far and been a good incentive. Glad to hear you're enjoying your walks Freddy keep those tales coming.
  6. Just as an update, these shoes in the original story are ones I often wear to walk the dog now, and it is a complete non issue. Also as an aside one of my daughters bought some ballet pumps (flats) and they were a little tight, and my wife suggested I wear them to stretch them for her, so she handed them to me and asked me to wear them round the house for a while. No issues for anyone with that. The girls still haven't seen me in heels though apart from the wedges which they haven't noticed yet.
  7. Another 2 outings today, this time in my Shoe Zone boots with a block heel. Firstly I went dog walking for around 40 minutes, and they're comfortable boots for a cheapy pair. Then I had to go with the wife to MK shopping centre and wore them there too. Mrs Shyguy said they look ok with the longer jeans I wore and had no problems with them. All good then
  8. The first pair look great but knee high. The second also look great, and I will be watching them to see how the bid goes. I may bid nearer the end of the auction and then justify it later lol.
  9. That's why we find ourselves here, bored with the lack of choice for mens shoes. Even my teenage daughter remarked on it the other day as we were looking for new school shoes for her. She said how few styles and colours there were available for men. Unfortunately for her she has size 9 UK feet now and is having difficulty finding womens shoes for herself.
  10. As there is no dedicated attire section (this post was originally posted in "Outfit critique" which is subtitled- "Critique and Feedback on outfits - What do you think of this outfit?") I think this general chit chat area is more appropriate for a story about buying clothes rather than asking for a critique of an outfit. Mrs Freddy seems to have the same ideas about the way things work as my own wife. If there's a possible scenario which would put her at a disadvantage once then all arguments for anything are null and void lol.
  11. Moved this thread to chit chat. Interesting reaction from your wife Freddy, maybe it's just resignation on her part lol.
  12. Thanks for the suggestions Freddy, hopefully might get out at the weekend to look for myself.
  13. This morning we could take our puppy out for her first walk (Staffordshire Bull Terrier, just had to wait until all her injections were complete and had time to work) so it was another outing for the wedges around the neighbourhood. Then we went to a car boot sale, again I wore the wedges, and had to drop some stuff to a friend of my wifes who was selling at the sale. Again no comments, or looks. My 14 year old daughter was with my wifes friend helping out, and didn't notice or didn't mention the shoes I was wearing although the friend did mention that I looked like I had lost weight, maybe it was the height and posture. Anyway, walked for a couple of hours today in the wedge heels and no backache and an enjoyable walk. Guess this won't be the last time.
  14. They fit the bill, but way too much for me to spend and justify it to the wife.
  15. That's what I want to find out Shoemaker, if it's the height or the impact absorbing of the shoes I wore. And according to my wife my walk and posture changed even with that small increase in heel height. So it could be either, and it could be fun finding out which it is lol.
  16. Was discussing the lack of back pain with my wife earlier, as usually I get a very painful backache after a short time walking round. Today in the slightly raised heels I had no pain after a full tour of the shops. And even later my back is still feeling better than normal, so my wife says I have to wear shoes like those more often (quickly followed by "those ones anyway, not any higher heels"). So it could mean more outings in heels. I want to try an experiment next to see if it was just the heel height or the fact that the softer rubbery wedge heel was cushioning the footfalls more which made the difference. So I may have to try something different if I can find something we can both agree on....
  17. very nice looking heels , and at a great price. I keep looking at Priceless and elsewhere for some boots too, still want something with between 2 and 3 inch block heel. The ones I have are just about 2 inch and are comfortable but I need something a little different still.
  18. Good work Kev, and for a worthy cause too. It seemed like a big challenge to me, but more power to you for completing the walk.
  19. Today I went shopping with the wife for our daughters school shoes. I checked with the long suffering missus, and she agreed I could wear my Next wedge shoes. They aren't super high, just under 2" but they have a heel so I'm posting it . Anyway we went in a few shoe shops for our daughters shoes, and walked all around the MK shopping centre, and felt just fine. Didn't expect any, and didn't get any looks or comments even though everyone in the shoe shops were looking down at feet and checking shoes. I also find I get less back pain wearing these shoes, so that may be a good reason to wear them more.
  20. I've just had nothing worth posting about for a while.
  21. As a side note, they have a regular newsletter they send by email from Evans, and you often get access to the online sales stuff a little early. Some times they have a prize draw available for signing up to the emails too, so it's worth a shot.
  22. My wife shops at Evans, so I often take the opportunity to look around the shoes. Their footwear usually comes up a little big (maybe because it's all wide fitting) and a size 7UK usually fits me whereas I take an 8 UK from anywhere else. I do find some of Evans styles a little umm ugly though.
  23. Yeah, sometimes it's a bit too easy to get caught up in everyone elses enthusiasm and push on with no regard for our other halfs feelings. It's a case of weighing up your priorities and working out what's more important to you...
  24. The boots look great, only up to size 7 left though. The shoes are nice but the square toe ruins the look for me.
  25. Was in Priceless shoes today (I need some sandals for my summer hols) and they have some great looking heels in there at the moment. I was also trying on sandals from both sides of the shop, male and female but only flats, with my wife assisting. One bored looking sales assistant just watched on as I tried some "womens" sandals and mules. Was still fun even though I didn't try the heeled ones.
