I suspect that just about says it for most of us. :roll: I've been thinking long and hard, but a job where wearing heels might seem almost 'normal' eludes me..... ....

I think Matalan, M+S and Next are going to be you best bets ... Though the online-auction site have many. The high street stores take returns though, which IMO make them a more attractive prospect. All good news! I vaguely remember reading somewhere that 1" to 2" heels were good for the posture? I too have found minor backache cured by walking in heels. If I'm honest though, I've found walking helps whatever I've got on my feet. For me the reality is, if I wasn't in heels I wouldn't be taking the exercise to start with. (Too boring. Herts isn't what you'd call scenic. :roll:) So wearing heels is a great motivator. :roll: ....

If ever you find yourself wearing your Karo wedges with jeans, and happen to have a camera with you, it would be great to see what the ensemble looked like together. Not sure how a self portrait would be possible, or if you would be inclined to oblige :roll: but I'd greatly appreciate a picture. I've tried on see through shoes before, but my slim feet usually slip through them. :roll: Don't know why I've such a 'thing' for see-through uppers, as my curly toes wouldn't lend themselves to being painted.... But like 'em, I do! :oops:

Worked in the garden too late to travel far tonight, but out again anyway, this time with the 'better' half. Walked for about 45 minutes (so couple of miles) on paths so poorly made and uneven, it was safer for me to walk in the roads when the traffic had disappeared. :roll: Ankles less of a problem. Walk/gait improved .... But acorns on one of the paths nearly had me on my back. I'm reminded why girls don't wear heels outside very often. It's just too dangerous! :roll: I suppose in the 1940's 50's and 60's, most urban pathways wouldn't have been lowered for a driveway every 20 feet, nor would great lengths of tarmac pavement have been carved up by Sky/NTL. I can't imagine how young parents with children in 'pushers' cope, nor those with impaired eyesight..... No wonder people like shopping malls so much. :oops: :cool: ...

If I remember, "Dizzy" off here had ordered a pair about a year ago, but I've not seen any reports on how he got on with them. If you find something and buy it, do please let us all know. Warmest day of the year in the UK today. Just about dark at 9pm, and I failed to resist the allure of the warm evening.... Expecting quite a few people out, I went to the next town only about 4 miles away, to avoid possible recognition. Walked around a park with a friend for about half an hour, having arrived at 9.15pm. Saw very few other people there. Not too surprsing given the time .... Backs of my ankles ached. My hot feet, from wearing PU stiletto ankle boots, were all but cooked by the time I'd walked back to the car .... Covered a little more than a mile I suppose, but seemed twice that distance. Felt like I was walking like a HH novice too. :oops: Very disappointed with my performance. I is obviously in need of more practice, and lots of it! :roll: :cool: Oxford Street tomorrow evening .... :roll: ...

I'd have the two pairs anyway ..... :-o One for wearing, one for staring at. :roll: (aka keeping for 'best'). I've not found a pair of Primark shoes that fit me well enough to buy. For some reason they, like Tesco, expect feet to be shaped like a clenched fist. Meaning round with no toes? Whenever I try them, they're not long enough and there's waaay too much room around the rest of my foot. (Which may explain my foot being able to travel so far forward.) It's a shame. I buy lots of my clothes in Primarni now. Sure they are inexpensive, but I like plain clothes. I don't favour tops with adverts or statements on them, and I don't llike my trousers/jeans to look worn out either. [Old school, me.] Primark tick a lot of boxes if you like (practically disposable) classic styling. My working class wife, won't go in the place without serious complaint. :oops: She prefers to spend much more on her clothes that seldom leave the wardrobe anyway? Or in her case (because she now has so many clothes), often it seldom leaves the front door of her wardrobe ~ or front door of mine! I'd love to buy Primark shoes, "cheap as chips" and styles changing fairly frequently. :cool: .....

Seems that here in the UK, summer (ha ha ha) is on the wane. The evenings are already drawing in, and on overcast nights it seems Autumn must be here already. For most of my life, this has been a sad time for me. I like long days (useful since I struggle to start mine), so shorter days mean I get even less done than usual... In early 2008, short days were useful as it meant I was out most nights of the week in heels. This got me fit, and it helped me lose some blubber around my waist. I had hoped that Autumn 2008 would let me do the same, but the wet weather came early, and I didn't get out much through Autumn/Winter 2008. This year has been fairly wet too. I didn't get to walk out much during the early months of 2009. Summer (ha ha ha) doesn't present many opportunities locally, and without trips to Oxford Street or larger shopping malls, I doubt I would have been out at all. I'm trying to convince myself the 'silver lining' to seeing Summer end, has a new benefit; early-evening darkness "cover" for me to wear stilettos out while walking...... The pessimist in me thinks. me wanting to walk out during Autumn, almost guarantees it'll continue to rain most days as we move toward the end of 2009...... Sorry guys. ;-) .....

Just noticed these ..... They are shoes I'd LOVE to own and wear. I have a thing for see-through uppers, and I really like wedges. A jealousy rating on a scale of 1 to 10, would be a 12! ;-) ...

As previously mentioned .... I should have said "Next", but I've gotten it right this time ........ ;-) As many here will know, shoes and boots from this retail outfit are generally understood to be high quality, so for the most part leather upper with rubber/synthetic sole. The first two links show styles I've handled, and both have a dense cushion insole/foot-bed. For those with the opportunity, these would be wear-all-day-shoes. >> Next shoe-boot << I haven't found a shop with a 42/8 in yet, but Next are usually true to size. The heel is actually hexaginal, which the photo doesn't show very well. They look like they have a platform (high toe-box) but there is no hidden platform. The padded footbed may have the effect of a thin platform, but the heel height on the 41/7

Cheers Bob. Went to see the doctor, early last week. She said it's unlikely to be the big C, but it should have healed by now, especially given the Hydrocortisone (sp) treatment I've tried. Going back in 2 weeks less large scab that was there when I saw her last Tuesday, so she can see the holes/holes a bit better. Current option includes tissue removal with a punch (if I heard that right) with analysis at pathology lab after minor op. Doctor was reasonably upbeat since all my sick relatives have water-works related cancers (or that's were they started leastways). Dunno what's going on with the skin. It's a small area about 5mm round that just wll not heal? I go to bed with what looks like a drying/healing mark, and wake up to a hole with blood having oozed out of it during the night. Same problem if the wound is cleaned during the morning, nasty red patch 6-8 hours later..... Thanks for the encouragement though. ;-) ...

Absolutely untrue. All I have ever said, is; "I don't understand". To convert that into "you slacker(s)" would need a slice of paranoia beyond my experience. If I say I don't understand something, I expect the thing I don't understand to be explaned to me, if there's an explanation to be had. I don't expect personal slights to be made toward me? ie. I live in a "Cozy world." Plainly there's nothing cozy about my world, is there? And my remarks were passed back, not for fatherly advice about how I should deal with the problems I have, but to illustrate I'm not some rich playboy with time on his hands. I have just about as much on my plate as everyone else. I happen to believe people (every man/woman) in the Western World work hard enough to deserve a couple of hours for a hobby every month. Who out there thinks this is wrong? I accept it may well be a priority thing, but there are plenty of people in the UK who continually express a desire to wear heels in public, to meet others with a shared interest, but then fail to do either..... My immediate response was; "I'm not sure how ro take your remarks." They were ambiguous to say the least. But then I had said as much, you (from then on) knew I might be barking up the wrong tree? I had higher Rep levels than MANY people who had been members for years. I had higher Thanks levels, than many people who had been there years. I had higher post levels, than people who had been there years. I'm a contributor. Same here. Before I started posting regularly here, there were circa 60 members with some of even that small number I suspect obsolete. Even if they weren't, the membership has almost quadrupled since I've been posting, and helping whip interest with the other couple of contributors. A coincidence? ;-) The new members are not ALL people signing up from over from the other site. Our posts have produced traffic ..... When I first joined in on the other site, I almost immediately fell out with most of the Admin because my writing style was a bit 'freer' than the site was used to. I took advice (most of it via PM's) and got into the site style. Sadly, I had also inadvertently made a long standing member an enemy, for no better reason than he took an instant dislike to me. [i have his PMl still, and this remark is a toned down version of his direct remark to me.] I was 'baited' into responding to him in an ungentlemanly way. [i can provide links to these via PM if necessary.] I got banned, and decided to keep away from the site, I don't even browse there. I still have copies of PM's that would have any impartial judge confirm my responses while ungentlemanly, were not inappropriate to the provocation I received, again mostly via PM. (So unseen by the Admin and Mods.) I never purposely upset anyone. If ever I do inadvertently upset someone and I find out I have, my usual response is an immediate apology (public to start with), and a long PM trying to mend bridges and explain in very long hand (aka detail) how my original intent may have been misunderstood. I fail to see how this sort of behaviour can be seen as anything less than 'best practice'? In fact so keen am I for the world (my peers) to see how compliant (enthusiasm to follow the rules) I am, I actually banned myself for a month to make sure my behaviour was seen as reasonable? Perhaps you didn't understand that suggestion I live in a "Cozy World", was no different than suggesting I live in a Fools Paradise? That's a personal remark that's hard to take as anything other than an insult, since only Fools live there ..... ? For the record ..... I've met a fair number of people off the Heel sites, I've also met a fair number of Mods. I've a handful of mobile numbers, which include those of some of the Mods. While I understand I might not have a 'best friend' amongst those, it does suggest I'm 'normal' enough to be trusted with personal phone numbers? As some here will know, I've a number of Licenses that have either the Police, or the local Council involved. Attaining these has meant I've been on courses, been vetted and been interviewed. Each one has involved a criminal record check. [A fith license is underway.] If I'm ever found to have lost my temper, argued in public, threatened anyone over anything, gotten drunk and disorderly, even urinated in the street, I lose the lot. How could anyone ever think, I could be anything other than reasonable? Rant ~ no. Frustrated with some always thinking the worst, sure! :-( I just don't know what to do right, for doing wrong. No wonder folk aren't keen to post. I don't lie. I never make anything up. The things I report, have happened. I never direct a critical remark at anyone. I agree, you aren't doing bad compared to many others. But prolific, you ain't. :-( This is a 'never mind the quality, feel the width' issue. The site needs quantity, not quality. Traffic (volume of) should entice the intellectuals amongst us, to be less shy. Possibly? ;-) ....

I saw sight of both pairs while on my fortnightly trip to Oxford Street tonight. The shiny ones look nice, but are not 'men wear' save under cover of darkness, heavy rain, and lightning overhead scaring the bezeezus out of everyone close by. The granny ones, might look granny, but might be wearable because the fronts look almost passable. (Even with the fairly short toe.) The thing I didn't like, was the dark grey/brown soles. Not black for some reason? Manufacturing quality was a bit questionable, given the price. Okay, not Aldo price either .... But I own better quality New Look PU boots I paid

Worthy reply. Although not aimed at me, I'd like to add ..... Personally, I try not to push anyone to a place they don't want to be. That could involve heels, or not. I suppose we are all able to give well-meant advice, that perhaps produces short term gains, and long-term costs. The example given seems just a case in point. There's another thread somewhere (that I suppose I'll have to reply to), where I may be seem to encourage members to do things they are not that comfortable with? (As may be more obvious to me should further detail is shared.) But "pushing" is never, and would never, be my intent. If I think (am led to believe) a lack of confidence is the main barrier to doing something advertureous, I'll encourage as best I can. I suppose my good intent can be mis-read, but I'm always happy to spend time providing a full and unambiguous written explanation. In personal relationships, I always suggest matters are addressed with care and consideration. Fortunately for me, I don't have to make a heels or relationship choice. If I did, I have no idea how I'd address that. I doubt there'd be a happy outcome either way .... For me, if there's one thing I've learned/been taught over my long and varied life, it's that we all need to be ourselves. I'd say that particular premise doesn't fit the lifestyle of everyone, as plainly, some prefer to hide their 'other-side'. It seems likely that for what might even be the majority, their lives are better if their secret is never shared? It just can't work for me.... My face is waaaay too expressive to be unhappy or frustrated, and be able to hide that from anyone. In many (many) respects, I'm lucky to be with the woman I'm with. ;-) ....
