  1. From the shoes/boots point of view, almost a disasterous day ... Got to TK Maxx Bletchley, which was en route to my meeting in Coventry, finding myself once again amongst very many weekend bargain hunters. Had a good look around the shoe section, which was disappointing compared to the Milton Keynes branch. [These two shops are only 5.3 miles and a 13 minute drive apart ~ BTW.] No high-end shoes like Diesel brand at the MK branch found Friday. But ...... There was some I liked the look of, that I'd seen several times before, but this time I found a pair that could be my size ..... [EU41/UK7] Everywhere I could sit to try them was full of young girls trying shoes, or parents/children having a rest while 'mummy' tried something on <it's tough being a male in a large retail store full of bargains> .... I was reasonably sure I'd tried this size before, and found them too small. [i'm actually a size 8 in most styles.] As I've already got a pair of shoes bought Friday that might be going back, I wanted to avoid taking a second pair back, but 'try before I buy' didn't look very likely. On the point of giving up, I found a stool, and tried the boots on. Unfortunately for my pocket, they fitted so I had to buy them. At
  2. Went to TK Maxx at Lakeside, which was a REAL waste of time. Saturday traffic was a bit of an unwelcome surprise. The whole place was practically gridlocked. Note to self: don't go there again on a Saturday .... Worse, the in-store range of footwear offered, was shockingly poor. Should have driven past the main shops (TK Maxx is on a retail park about a mile away from the Lakeside Mall). House of Fraser had a sale on, but nothing there 'grabbed me'. There may have been a larger range some weeks ago, but what was left wasn't worth the effort of being parked in a traffic queue for so long ... Back on M25 to Bluewater.... Once there, straight into HoF again. Larger range of Sale shoes and boots, but nothing I hadn't seen before (or bought come to that.) Mrs Freddy got a bit of a bargain, finding some Kurt Geiger shoes originally at
  3. Lakeside and Bluewater today. Not sure if we'll get to Brighton ..... Will depend if I need to meet with a friend in Rochester .... (Which will be a bit of a detour in the wrong direction.)
  4. Another pair of stunning >> long boots << this time from Kurt Geiger.
  5. All driving, though the Brighton gig might be by train. No heels. Business or family trips .... Thanks for your good wishes.
  6. Starting to look like I'm going to be travelling a lot this week. Thursday at Gt. Yarmouth. 7 hours travelling, 1 hour visit. Friday, Milton Keynes, and or Northampton. Brighton this coming Saturday seems to be unavoidable. 4 hours travelling, 1 hour visit, maybe longer if I stay for lunch. Sunday, to somewhere close to Coventry before travelling across country to Kettering. Friday looks to be the only 'entertainment' day. :-o No rest for the wicked?
  7. Another milestone tonight ... 300 members.... For some reason this'll doubtless reduce, before it climbs again, but the number is there. Also tonight, 'most users' logged on has gone up. Again. Of course some of this number [75] will be seach engines looking for keywords for links, but the number of interested real people looking at the site has grown.... We've got another couple of members adding posts, but the site could do with more ..... ...
  8. Having had some first hand experience of that very situation, I can confirm it was as uncomfortable as you imagine. ;-) In my defence, it was one of those 'do it' or 'regret it' moments, and I've already got plenty of the 'regret it' moments to keep me company.... However, if the shoe had been on the other foot (), I'd have welcomed the approach and almost immediately offered a cup of coffee, the Debenham refreshments still being available only 30-40 paces away. Perhaps I'm a little too confident for my own good .... but changing that seems like something of a backward move? It's only been a little more than a day, and no sign of an entrance yet, let's hope it wasn't a wasted effort ...... :-o Eh? .... :-o ....
  9. Sorry for the long title, but it's a time and location stamp that MIGHT be important..... This Sunday past (11th Oct.) I went to Brent Cross hoping to a size 8 version of >> these << from Fenwicks. To my surprise, they had reduced from
  10. Many people reading this post will be a little green-eyed (jealous) of your outing. Mostly I suppose, because you're out in 5" heels enjoying social activity. And perhaps a little jealous because you're out with a girl who doesn't mind you wearing heels while you're out with her. I wonder, is there any way you could share this with us too, by posting a photo of the two of you? Either from being out last week, or maybe take a picture for us if you go out again this weekend? If you are concerned about showing the world what you and your girl-friend look like, by all means hide your faces. But I'd sure like to see what you look like when you go out?
  11. I'll give it some thought, but it's quite a stretch .... I've already 90% decided my next visit there will have me in stillies, but I expect to visit late in the day, and late on a quiet day.
  12. From the comfort point of view, I suppose rounded/almond shaped shoes are better to wear. But points are more of a fashion statement, maybe going back to the days of the 'winklepcker' mens style. (Before my time I hasten to add.) Cowboy styles with noisy heels are also less likely to attract attention of the unwanted kind, than being seen wearing 'femme' styles or platforms. Either way, for me the shape and height of the heel will nearly always trumpt whatever's going on at the front. ...
  13. I am tempted...... My problem is that if I went ..... I'd have to wear heels, even if it was my Harley's. And I would consider myself 'chicken' if I wore those ..... Basically, I've got to talk myself into wearing shoes I wouldn't normally wear - in public - in daylight. KFC anyone? :-o
  14. No pleasing some people.
  15. The first of many ... maybe. >> [url=http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=true&catalogId=19551&storeId=12556&categoryId=175039&parent_category_rn=175013&productId=1345311&langId=-1]
  16. So .... back on thread ..... Anyone definitely going to Westfield at the end of the month?
  17. >> Cheaper ~ higher << ..... but PU. No links to thick socks though .... :-o ......
  18. Just for the record, I've now tried their size 41/8 and they are very very small for an 8. I will say, they are actaully a 7. Size 8's usually fit me, or are too large, especially in the width department. These are a tight fit and I have some size 7's that are not this small. Shame really, as they are a nice boot. ...
  19. Just checked and NEXT have altered what you see in the links. I'll repair this later.
  20. Been a little bit frustrated with this seasons shoe/boot releases. Apart from a couple of French Connection styles, (
  21. Plenty of dancing after the fashion show. Didn't / don't / wouldn't take my shoes off in a club. I've worked where alcohol is served in glasses, and you can never be sure how much broken glass is on the floor during any evening.... All this reminds me of something I didn't mention about Saturday .... As I said before, plenty of girls around in heels, not least because the weather was reasonably mild. [Despite a heavy shower.] I'd forgotten about the 4 or 5 girls - usually with a boyfriend - walking along Regents St. with their heels in their hands. So walking barefoot in the street..... :-o Given what's on that pavement in places, I'd sooner take the pain or get in a taxi. It's not like there's somewhere to wash 'soiled' feet if someone was unlucky enough to tread in human fluids. ...
