  1. Okay. I have another free listing weekend, but I'm not allowed to put any more new shoes on. The Forums there indicate it's their way of getting sellers to mark themselves as business sellers. The thinking is it means they can charge higher fees for this. My thinking is, mark yourself as a business, it opens the doors to Consumer legislation. No probs for the buyer, no probs for the site, but can make life difficult for the seller. Any Buy It Now listing can be returned because EU/UK law says it can. I'll maybe put links to obsolete listings, and any new ones. ....
  2. I've a zillion pairs to sell, and I doubt there's enough traffic here to attract buyers? Though I could maybe try some of the less expensive ones? The best known Internet auction site isn't proving to be very useful either, of about 8 pairs listed, I sold 2 pairs. Two unsold pairs were brand new Pleaser boots at less than half the price they might be found elsewhere. Any UK residents know of places some of a large shoe collection might be sold on? Mostly new with box.... ....
  3. Looks like I missed the chance of buying the 12mega pixel N8 (new) for £200 from one of the independent retailers. That'll teach me to not spend hours everyday trawling the Internet.... On the up side, I've actually tried a Nokia 500 camera and it seems to work faster than the N8? Maybe due to the 1ghz onboard processor, and the smaller image size. [5 mega pixel.] Hopefully I'll own one by the end of the week. ....
  4. I've not been out much recently. The building site [aka Home] is wearing me out, plus money is short. [And fuel is £1.40 a litre! ] It was Mrs Freddy's birthday at the weekend. We had a farewell do on Friday, I worked Saturday night, we ate with the family on Sunday, so today was the first time we spent any time together, alone. We both like Bluewater (shopping Mall), and the 60 mile each way journey with toll bridge interlude lets you know you've travelled. Originally, I was going to buy herself a 16gb Nano iPlayer for a present, so she could listen to music while walking from/to her car on work days. Two weeks ago, our laptop cooked itself, and we need another. At this time the Nano is shelved, but I still thought we should have the day out anyway. Originally, I wasn't going to bother with heels. It's been a few weeks, and my heart really wasn't in it. Getting ready, my hands had other ideas, and I just followed the usual procedure. Mrs Freddy wasn't expecting anything else and my footwear wasn't subject to any comment at all. At Bluewater, we must have walked around for close to 5 hours, though we did have a short coffee break. We needed food before returning home, so ate out. We walked back to the car slowly, before driving home, arriving at about 10.30pm. It's close to 1am the following day, and I still have my boots on. [Though off to bed very soon.] Wearing heels just seems like the most normal/regular thing to do...... [Long may it last.] .......
  5. Hide them in plain sight? Include them in a larger bag of old unwanted clothes you might be taking to a charity shop (for them to sell ~ if you have these). The clothes get to the shop, the shoes stay. (In the car). If ever the shoes get found stowed away in the trunk, "They must have fallen out of the charity shop bag?" ...... I'm minded to that old/worn joke of the two fellas getting dressed having showered after a game of [squash/tennis/golf]. One turns to his friend and says; "Hey bud, how long you been wearing ladies frilly panties?" The embarrassed reply was; "Ever since my wife found a pair in the car!" This probably isn't going to work for you and heels though (sadly).... Plan B? Parachute them out of an upstairs window at night. Walk out to the car to check the hissing noise you heard was a bug not a tire going flat ..... Then install boots inside your car? I hope you find a solution. And I hope your first public venture is a success. ....
  6. Anyone any experience of the camera in a Nokia 500?
  7. Very attractive boots. Good choice! Even better at the Clearance price.
  8. Had to look up your Latin quote. You obviously went to a better school. I dunno I could agree "selfish", as for me that seems to infer putting myself first at the cost of those around me? I probably do have my moments, but I don't mean to. I would suggest a more agreeable term might be: "not being so selfless" from time to time? As always I have concerns about a bit of self indulgence driving a wedge between people in what would otherwise be a successful relationship. That said, if ever I were given the ultimatum "It's me or the heels?" I'm not sure I'm capable of making the right decision for us, rather than the right decision for me. During the course of this morning, I had a need to dig out some of the clothes I'd buried a year ago before I started this rebuilding project. To get to them I had to wade through boxes (and boxes) of shoes I'd also stored. Must of lost an hour trying on pairs I hadn't seen for a while...... Mrs Freddy is always saying 'there'll be time tomorrow'. Does she think we'll live to be 150, and still be active? Memento mori. ......
  9. Over. The only time I would say an ankle boot might be visible and look 'right', would be if the wearer had a long loose skirt on, and the bots were just below the hem. Otherwise, over. With jeans that had a very slight flare, or straight leg stretch jeans that would cover most of the boot (sadly), you'd te same look that gets me most places unnoticed. ...
  10. Potentially a little bit of gossip/scandal ....... I gave my friend £35 to get me some shoes on Friday. She lives in London (I don't) and she travels into the West End every weekday. For me to travel back when the shops are open, would cost around £20. Making any shoes I would buy, £20 more expensive..... Managed to speak to her briefly on Friday morning, but not been able to contact her since. Should I be worrying? I doubt the pair I wanted [reduced by £85] will be about on Monday.... I already know they are few and far between ..... .....
  11. You've done better than that. Given your contributions and the length of time you've kept posting, you're practically a board veteran. ....
  12. Hmmm. The notion conveyed [mine] doesn't read that well, does it ...... I think the way to look at it [a more quotable summary] might be ..... We [men] need to be careful we don't lose sight of our own needs and desires, when trying to respond to everyone elses? It's just too easy to get wrapped up [stuck in the rut] of everyday life. And forget what our raison d'etre might otherwise be. When I sailed through my 20's and 30's, there was always time next year. But I'm running out of years .... Worse, I've friends who ran out of years, suddenly. I'm beginning to realise, I need to be doing something now. And I mean right now. Not next week, nor next Monday, not even tomorrow. But today, right now. If ever there was a truism, it's "I wish I knew then, what I know now." My feet would be all messed up having spent 20+ years wearing heels. And I wouldn't regret a moment, nor the pain I'd be suffering with them today. If I'm laid in my box without wearing everything out, I haven't tried hard enough. ....
  13. Works for me. Have you bought some gel inserts then? [start sarcasm] As there's obviously no need for surgery. [end sarcasm] I had given the issue of "comfortable shoes" a little thought the other day. Seems to me, any stupidly high shoe by default, is unlikely to be comfortable? That realised, I decided some shoes I REALLY liked but were a tad snug, were keepers after all. In fact, reduced further to £35 in the sale, I might try to get a second pair. The Harley D's I wear all the time are a little looser now, but have always been about half a size small. I like wearing them, so have worked out how to make them more comfortable. [Very thin sock, aka hose. Plus little gel 'socks' for both big toes. ] With this pain prevention scheme, I don't have any problem wearing them for 10 hours straight. ....
  14. Well, we met up, for about an hour. I thought she was working late, but she arranged to start late to meet me early. She was a little surprised at how tall I was .... Until she looked at my feet, bless her. That out of the way, we popped into House of Fraser where I was looking for a 2nd pair of Bertie boots. [None found]. As she is quite small, she likes heels, so tried a couple of pairs on. See a couple of poor grade piccies below. [New phone with better camera coming soon.] Carvela/KG 1 Carvela/KG 2 .....
  15. You'd have to be nuts! $1000+ Even in a sale ! >> Alaïa long boot << The curved heel is slowly becoming a bit more popular, as designers struggle to find new ideas. Heels are thickening up everywhere, (which is good for me). The inward curve is great for wearing under straight trousers and jeans, and maybe why there's some interest. [Doesn't everyone want to be that bit taller, without announcing they're wearing 5 or 6 inch heels?] With a curved in heel, you don't need to have a flared end to your trouser, to cover your shoes. P.S. Thankfully, they don't have your size. ....
  16. I have a thing for ankle boots, as I've such skinny legs. [so no long boots possible really.] I've also got a thing for curved, banana shaped heels. These are high at 5" but the slim platform helps make it a practical design too. The downside to me owning these would be, I'd still have to hide them under long jeans or trousers. Maybe just as well I don't own a pair ..... Though they provide a great response to criticism for wearing womens shoes? "They're an £800 shoe. Who wouldn't want to wear them?" .....
  17. Hello stranger..... I think you are right. I have been over there to check for any planned UK meets I might attend, and most of the 'Meeting' traffic seems to be in the US, with a huge get together in New York during March [if I remember]. HHplace is very busy, especially compared to H4M. Given how many blatant TV threads and posts are made, I can only conclude the deciding factor to where the traffic appears is the female presence and contribution? A site titled Heels for All, might have attracted a significantly higher female membership, where the current title almost closes the door to them. [Not by intention, but by inference.] We have one lady contributor, and I am very pleased with Eoneleg's contributions, as I'm sure is all the membership. .....
  18. One of my more popular venues, is Oxford Street in London's West End. See google link below. http://maps.google.c...,288.9,,0,-2.07 Every ground floor fascia you see, is a retail outlet. Notice how busy the roads are. It's not much quieter/slower at night, until about 1 a.m. and I've usually left by then. There are also Asia style tricycles [man powered 3 wheel rickshaws] now being used to carry 3 to 4 adult passengers around the West End, and these have negligible braking systems. A further danger is they are silent. Mrs Freddy has a slight concern, in that one day a cab/tricycle, or bus is going to catch me crossing the very busy road. There are many crossing places, but not always in a convenient position. Her thinking is, if I find myself on the ground, my heels are going to be pretty obvious. Are folk going to be more interested in my condition, or my footwear? Hopefully we'll never find out. ....
