  1. A few more images added, mostly using the old Nokia camera phone, and nearly all needing editing. Usual problem is getting verticals, vertical. Then adding corner detail to blank space created from the rotating operation. If only I had a phone with a gyroscope inside?

  3. Got two images to edit [remove distractions] and we are good to go. Gonna be a 'warts and all' story though. Sorta critque of the place as a venue ......
  4. I couldn't find anything else either ...... but ....
  5. Once again braved the elements unexpectedly, and went to Camden. Remembered the camera, but it's either faulty, in need of a charge, or both. Either way, the bloomin' thing got left in the car after all. Took some low grade photo's with my old camera phone that I'll post very soon. Did a number of artistic 'cobble' shots..... In the hope of illustrating my remarks about heel hazards. Spent nothing, despite trekking around the place for almost 3 hours. Full report to follow.
  6. Latest weather for today: Local, -1 C tonight, reaching a heady 9' C if the Sun can make an appearance. London, not quite as low overnight, but not getting any higher than 9' C tomorrow either. These temperatures are more typical of a sunny winters day...... Not really enthusing me to trudge up and down Camden High Street, so may have to give it a miss. The large stores in Brent Cross and Oxford Street have more appeal in this weather. [Yep I know; "wimp". ] ....
  7. If I can get my act together, I'll be trying these on later today (Sunday) in Debenhams Oxford Street. Had popped into a Barratts earlier this week for a look-see, and didn't find them 'in store'? If I get a pair on my feet, will try to get a photo of me in them, if I can remember the camera.
  8. Spotted on the auction site, for £22. [May not be the same, but looks remarkably similar.]
  9. Looking at the ALDO stock situation for this style ...... Gone (as expected) the size 8 I ordered in black. [Was the last pair.] Mysteriously, the 8 /41 ordered not there, but a stock adjustment has found a size 3 in black??? A size 3 had been put in a size 8 box maybe? Someone should have gone to Specsavers? [uK joke, nodding at current advertising campaign for Specsavers.] .....
  10. Who am I kidding? The (bed) room I use for taking photo's is South facing. It's got two large half height windows, and for the most part, the interior walls are white. The light has been so bad this week, I've struggled to find an angle that produces enough light on a subject to get a photo out of a digital camera. I have studio lights, but no flash sync on my budget Fuji camera. [Plus the lights, brollies, and most of the reflectors are packed away.] It's been so overcast this week, you really would think we are in the middle of winter. One of my auction site buyers is a Fellow of the Meteorological Society. I asked him why our weather was so bad. He said it wasn't that bad, as it was inside expected limits. [so maybe not typical, but certainly not unusual either.] He did go on to say that information like that was precious little comfort to anyone under 2 feet of water at the moment..... Nor for my part, anyone trying to use natural light indoors to take photographs of shoes. ....
  11. Will be going to London over the weekend. The weather forecasters have reported some dry weather Saturday afternoon and some of Sunday daytime. If it turns up, I'll be doing some walking around in heels, possibly along Camden High Street. The High Street has a nasty cobbled pavement, with contours that share more than a passing likeness to a ploughed field, so no stiletto's. I'll try to remember to take a camera, so I can share the sights. Other places in the UK .... Scotland [500 miles North] is expected to feel temperatures of -6 degrees. .....
  12. The evil hand of fate, cancelled time off after all!. Bit surprised I hadn't had a delivery from ALDO as shipment was indicated as 1st or 2nd May. Got an email tonight, "Sorry we don't have that item in stock, so we've refunded your card." Just not meant to be ..... ....
  13. Maybe in another 6 six months, I may be asking, "Who thought your wife would be agreeable to walking out with you in [modest] heels?" A phrase I learned not very long ago, is; "If you don't ask, you don't get." Usually pointed at salesmen when asking for a discount, but it's fair advice for any situation really. Of course there are ways of asking. My first all day out in heels with Mrs Freddy, came from me taking her to an exhibition she was very keen to attend. I went under sufferance, but made the day completely enjoyable for her. [Lunch and dinner out, 3 hours in an exhibition supposedly taking everyone else 45 minutes......] But I went there in heels, with Mrs Freddy's blessing. A day neither of us will forget. Anyway, little steps, eh? ....
  14. Always nice to get a discount, but paying the going rate for something you like, is probably better than discounted shoes that have already sold out. [been there a few times. ] Great style. Still fond of a high wedge myself. $150 though .... But then a 4¾" rise ....... .....
  15. The evil hand of fate had a holiday this week. As reported before, the Chupka in a size 9 went back. After owning them for 5 or 6 months, I finally looked at the left shoe, which is always a looser fit than the right - so no need to bother when they arrived? On looking, I discovered the leather the shoe was made from, was 'distressed' to the point of being faulty. Consequently they went back. Reward for sending them back, was free carriage on my next posted order. As I have two pairs of the Levere [see Avatar], I don't need a third pair. It's Spring/Summer, so few new styles of interest to me. But ..... One pair of the third style I wanted to try (above), seems to have come back in stock in my size! So, ordered them up. Link here [for short while] showing brown version. >> clicky << Last pair in stock a size 9? Should be here soon. .....
  16. I need to learn how to count. 1 x pair sandals, going/gone to the great cobbler in the sky. [Care of the recycling bin.] 3 x pairs [boots] too heavy/worn to sell on the internet auction site, so straight to the charity shop for local resale. 11 x pairs, sandals/mules/boots. Mostly worn once, some not worn at all. That's a revised total of 15 pairs....... Once again, no apparent change in the space taken by the residual collection. When I've finished taking photo's, I'll do a composite image of all 15 as a single image. Already done the first four pairs, as they got repatriated today. Might have done more photo's, but it was so overcast all day, there just wasn't enough light. Also .... Freddy Shoe Sales Co Ltd, seems to be experiencing the recession biting in. Fewer 'watchers' than usual, though I have had a bid on one item. [Thankfully.] What I've just realised is, the current group have been up for sale at least once, and one pair at least 4 times. That particular pair are heavy, so expensive to ship, and an unknown brand in the UK too. I suppose I'm pretty much left with the unsaleable styles, though some of them are actually quite attractive. I suspect it's carriage costs are the problem. Almost anything is going to cost £4 to get to a new owner, and some buyers think carriage is free whatever they buy. The other consideration, is that it shouldn't be 'boot' buying weather right now, and the current season could be affecting interest. That said, we've just had the wettest April for 100 years, despite being in a drought? It's supposed to be late Spring here at the moment, but local gardens to me are fully saturated, with puddles still laying on grass trying to find heat so they can evaporate...... Spring? Spring Water more like. ......
  17. Well I think further congratulations are in order, well done sir! Not quite sure why you did so little to hide the heel [no wider jeans, or none with a flare maybe] but you've gone further than me in respect of daylight/public heeling. Had I gone out in such a way, I doubt I would have been able to carry it off. Fear [although I'm not sure what of] would have kept me in the closest toilet to were I left the car. Even in Oxford Street, or Westfield [stratford] which are about the busiest places I've been, wearing visible high heels would probably be a challenge I'm not ready for. Sure my heels can be seen briefly when I stride forward, but otherwise they "stay in the closet" under my jeans or trousers. I'm impressed. Actually, jealous and impressed. Dunno about slowing down though, seems you've raced ahead already? Getting busted by your wife, well that's a good reason to move with a little more care. In the big outside world, 'escape' is only as far as your car. At home, no escape possible. And them women folk seem to have the ability to remember detail and circumstance several light years away from anything us men folk are typically capable of. Upsetting your spouse over wearing high heels, really is the last thing any of would consider a step in the right direction. [sorry, couldn't resist the pun.] If you haven't already, maybe you should 'sound out' the good lady's possible response to you going out in heels while you're being discreet about you wearing them? [Meaning, while wearing longer/wider jeans. ] Who knows, were she to witness how little folk are interested in what you're doing, maybe you could have an escort [her] from time to time? I think I've mentioned before, the three women I've been out in public with, would be less inclined to go out with me were I in stripper heels. None of them are that keen anyway, but they will go out with me in heels almost anytime, provided I'm discreet. That means longer jeans/trousers, and no noisy heels. [No steel tips on heels.] Not anywhere in daylight at least. Would you have thought, even 6 months ago, you'd be out in public wearing high heels? You've certainly moved forward. .....
  18. I think there must some interest in the photo's ....... the most viewed one so far, has 1230 hits to date.
