Ebay And Shopping.

Recommended Posts

Bought 3 pairs from Ebay last week.  This is the first pair that came in the post. Going start to use my phone to take photos from now. So this is a test to see how well it works out.  I also bought a tripod to mount the phone with a remote so I can take photos  of me wearing heels. I should be able to do better photos now20200601_133001.jpg

I think I bought some Aldo ankle boots earlier this year from Ebay, and can't remember the last pair of shoes I bought before that. I've managed to sell a couple of pairs I either haven't worn or won't wear, but it's been hard work to sell anything shoe related. Some listed for months, and even then, practically given away. In fact 3 pairs (all unworn) were dropped off at a Cancer Research charity shop about 2 weeks ago, as they might have better luck than me with carriage handicapping anything I might be offering.

With people staying in more, I suppose demand for any shoes has shrunk. Camera equipment and cycling bits, seems to have a much greater demand.  :D

Yes, indoor pursuits and those involving exercise rather than just socialising seem to be the most popular at present.   (But surely most of your shoes are well-suited to indoor pursuits that also involve modest exercise:o )

How long, I wonder, before we see 'Covid Research' charity shops?

I enjoy walking in a heel, itself a great form of exercise;)  Sadly, Maison Freddy doesn't have a treadmill or suitable space for walking far in a straight line...  :(

Something I neglected to mention about the C/R shop .... Not for the first time as I arrived later in the day, I found a board up saying 'we can't cope with any more donations today, please bring them back another time'. I left my bag of shoes and other 'as new' donations anyway. I wasn't going to make another trip ... As reported in several newspapers, folk used lockdown to have a bit of a clear out, and charity shops have been inundated with donations. Conversely, folk are not buying in the way they used to. (Where to wear?) From the little I've looked, hoarders of attractive size 8 shoes have not been so obliging, unless these shops are promoting the higher turnover (of womens shoes) by putting out the smaller sizes?

Taxpayers will be paying (through the nose) for Covid Research if/when a vaccine is found/created.

Really?   I was sure that you had a whole room (dungeon?) that was fully-equipped with all sorts of stuff for promoting 'exercise' of varying degrees of comfort, or otherwise.   And of course the tight-fitting and shiny boots and clothing, plus restraints and persuaders, that I am reliably informed are essential adjuncts.   Or was I just dreaming?  :o

Not dreaming, but the videos you have been watching of a high heeled walker on a treadmill, were not made at Maison Freddy.

Tall people on the treadmill..... ;)

I would like to own some of the shoes seen in the original videos however....

Not guilty of watching those beforehand!   I'm not keen on the pink shoes - makes the blokes look a tad too effeminate!   (Nothing wrong with pink shirts etc on a man, however.)   Yes, some nice footwear in the second compilation, but too fleetingly glimpsed.

That’s where the pause button comes in handy. The pointed toe ankle boots in the first shot, and the rounded toe courts would be my favourites.

Some very nice match shots used in the editing of the trailer.

Yes, one can of course pause it, but a longer 'moving' shot would have been good too.   I like the ankle boots too!

Or ..... You could confirm your age (over 18) by using a gmail account and watch the videos the trailer showcases?

I didn't include links for those because sometimes a log in is required to watch.... (And while you can lead people to water ....  :D)

Thanks - I hadn't spotted that option in my brief viewing.   I think I have seen this bloke before; he has a very nice collection of high heels and wears them well.   I'll post a link to the ones I found a while ago and particularly liked when I can.

You possibly know this, but YT videos can be played at different speeds.

Some illegally uploaded films with outstanding copyright,  sometimes have to be played back at something other than 'normal' speed for them to be watched. Compressing recordings, helps avoid detection and subsequent removal. I discovered this completely by accident.

As (nearly) always, Freddy, I bow to your superior knowledge of these techy issues; thanks.   I will experiment (behind closed doors).

Bought this pair. Going have to return if I can . They meant to be a size 10 but there is no size on the shoes. As they dont fit going have to return them.

Have you looked just inside the toe-box? (Effectively on the underside of the material covering the toe-box.)

At least yours arrived.

I bought some shoes, at a stupidly low price. So low in fact it likely cost the seller to send them (after commissions are paid.) I felt so bad about this, I sent a message to the seller to say if they packed them well enough to ensure they arrived safely, I would gift them more money. No response. A week later, no shoes and no response to a general query. A week later still, still no response to a further - amiable query. I consulted Ebay in the absence of shoes or contact, and got a refund in 2 hours. I'd have preferred to have the shoes.... If I remember, fees invoiced that from an unresolved dispute are not credited as with most returned goods. So not only did the seller not get a sale, they still lost money.

Only for the third time in 12 years, I've felt compelled to leave negative feedback. I did wonder if there might be some sort of family or personal issue, but days before my second query, the seller listed another pair of shoes.  Not quite sure what is going on with them .....  Disappointing, because I really wanted those shoes too.

Just had a another look for the sizing.. There is a very faint sizing on the arch of sole. These shoes are infact a size 11 not a size 10 like the seller said. Tried them on yesterday whist wearing a pair of tights and they fit. A very comfortable pair of heels to wear.   What made me buy tthem was that they were real Leather a full 5.5 inches with a metal heel tip and brand new.. Could this pair be from The Little Shoe Shop. There is a faint Made in England on the soles. I think a good buy for once.

So, a pair of shoes that were initially thought to be too small and didn't fit turned out to be larger than you expected (according to the apparent size marking) and now do fit, and comfortably too!   So, a result - but a strange, almost surreal, situation!   Were they perhaps US11 (marked thus) and therefore more like a UK9 than the UK10 you wanted?  Is that heel really 5.5"; it looks a little lower?

As to source, I think you mean The Little Shoe Box (late of Holloway).   I believe that the maker of LBS footwear also manufactured for Cover Girl (and others too) so, if the 'vintage' is right, you may be right about the ultimate source.   But I doubt that LBS would mark its products wrongly or use US sizing.

They don't look like 5.5" to me either, but a longer shoe (larger size) can distort ratios I am familiar with. A tape measure will resolve the query in short order of course.

A US11 is roughly similar to a UK9, and I think that is Heels usual size in a shoe? I have tried Aldo shoes marked US11 and they were closer to a UK 9½. A UK11 would feel like a welly on a UK size 9 foot I would have thought, and hose allows me to get into a smaller shoe, rather than padding one out.

I don't remember that style from LSB or Covergirl. The heel shape looks a little more modern too?

All those queries aside, if the shoe is comfortable and a pleasure to wear, I would agree, a "good buy". B)B)

. Heels are just under 5.5 inches. Maybe not Little Shoe box but I don,t know any other British shoe manufacturer. All I know is that this pair were made in England.

Well, that does sound like LSB, as I had a pair from them with the same heel height, but don't forget the company the film/stage production "Kinky Boots" is based on, also made larger size shoes - specifically for men. It could be one of their styles?

I can't do it immediately, but I'll see if I can dig out some pictures of the LSB/Covergirl shoes I used to own, just to compare the heels. Mine would have been 7 and 7½ so the ratios would have been a little different, but I doubt they used more than two heel forms for shoes. Oddly the ones I had (two pairs) with officially 5" heels, were like yours, closer to 5½ inch high. Not sure if I measured the 6 inch heels, but I would be surprised if I hadn't. Those images would be archived though, so not immediately available to me.

I can't offhand recall the names, but there were several other businesses offering fetish and more exotic footwear 10 - 20 years ago, most of which seem to have fallen by the wayside.   5" and higher stiletto heels seemed to be commonplace and the styles were quite varied.   I believe that the actual manufacturers of these shoes (including LSB) were a small bunch and supplied several retailers as well as selling direct.   Heels's shoes look to be a more modern and more restrained design than most of the 'traditional' courts and possibly were intended for a showgirl (or boy!) - the Mary Jane style and fairly rounded toe suggests such use for dancing etc.

Which I now know, Ebay removed "by accident" and can't reinstate.

What is the point of a feedback system to assist buyers, when the market place removes the warning to potential buyers?

When I left feedback, the 'seller' had just sold two pairs of shoes. Looked at the same seller today, as I'm waiting for the reappearance of the shoes I wanted to buy.....

Seems the buyer of the two pairs didn't get their purchase either, and has left negative feedback for both items and as I did as they too had to use Ebay to get a refund.

I don't understand this behaviour. AFAIK, if a seller doesn't resolve a claim before Ebays involvement, when Ebay does find against the seller and issue a refund, Ebay keeps the listing fees. So the seller has not only found themselves with negative feedback (hopefully for good this time) but has lost money to get it. Plus, they might likely, still have the shoes they were selling?

It was suggested to me, the three pairs of shoes might have been sold for a higher price off Ebay. Possibly. But why wouldn't you then just cancel the sales, give a refund and avoid the negative feedback and ill-will? Just makes no sense to me at all.
