Heels in Song

Bread Heel

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any favourite songs that reference high heels?

Here are two of mine:

Last I Heard by Thom Yorke

Walking in high heels (I woke up with a feeling I just could not take)
Breaking in your high heels (I woke up with a feeling I just could not take)”

Undrowned by Everything Everything

To close it around til you're scorched and undrowned, they Devour you in tottering heels”

Or, to open it up further, does anyone have any favourite songs they like to dance to in heels?

How about Nancy Sinatra’s these Boots. Are Msde For Walkin’? No specific mention is made of heels In the song, but listening to it, who can doubt it?

Ive never danced in heels - I’m not much of a dancer to put it mildly but if I did, I suspect I could get away with it in my Cuban heeled ankle boots.

Years of cycling, and before that, sabre fencing, have given me good balance and very strong flexible ankles. I’ve never had any trouble at all wearing four inch heels of any sort.

Apparently it did a lot for boot sales at the time.

Did you know that Patrick McNee and Honor Blackman (Steed and Emma Peel from The Avengers) recorded a song called Kinky Boots?

Speaking of which, did you ever see the musical Kinky Boots? I did. It was brilliant

I have heard it before, a very fun song.

I’ve not had a chance. Started watching the film version but never finished it.

Apparently, Patrick Macnee [sic] was tone deaf and couldn't hold a note, making his contribution to the recording of 'Kinky Boots' problematic.  It is a while since I heard it, but if memory serves he speaks rather than sings his part.

Yes, “Steed” more or less speaks rather than sings in that recording.

The stage show musical Kinky Boots is considerably better than the movie and the song, written by Cindy Lauper, are clever and fun. The whole show is, really. Or was, I think it has ended, at least in London.

Actually no, it was on my birthday a couple of years ago, on a hot August afternoon. Not exactly boot weather and at any rate It was also a surprise - my wife took me to see it.   Kinky Boots would certainly have been a great show to wear boots to, though!

Actually, Honor Blackman played Cathy Gale.

Emma Peel was played by Diana Rigg.

TV nerd point to me :D

ZZ Top "I'm Bad,  I'm Nationwide"

Second verse:

Easing down the highway in a new Cadillac, I had a fine fox in front, I had three more in the back.

They sporting short dresses, wearing spike-heel shoes.

They smokin' Lucky Strikes and wearing nylons too.
