"Last minute" meeting around the UK?
FastFreddy2 replied to FastFreddy2's topic in Heelbucks chit chat Cafe
I saw these again yesterday in French Connection Lakeside. I had a good look at the bow. It's stitched and glued, and not part of the boot. It'd be real simple to remove it .... ;-) But -
I should be the last person to say this, but you don't need shoes you're not going to wear. <Sensible hat off....> Sometimes (often in my case), resisting something you find attractive can be a real exercise in futility, that'll only prove to be a waste of energy. Put in fewer words .... "Give in" because eventually you're going to buy anyway. ;-) I've been wearing high heels for years. (A lot of years.) But had not worn them during daytime in public. Worn them in Clubs and a 'party' or two previously, but otherwise kept my interest to myself and a (long) string of girlfriends. Last year, having read about others who venture out into the real world wearing heels, I started doing the same. Now, I didn't suddenly start walking out in heels. Initially I went out in the middle of the night, then for quite long walks in the evening, both under cover of darkness. Eventually, I went out during the day too. Not in stiletto's, but in block heels as these were more disguisable. The message here, is that anything seems to be possible, pretty much. I'm not saying you could get away with wearing 5" thighboots to do your weekly shopping with impunity (no staring), but like some of us over here, you might get out in heels and just enjoy wearing them? "Little steps". ;-) ....

Saw >> these << today. Not so keen on the hidden platform, which I might have forgiven if the footbed was padded.... but it wasn't.

As you might already know Bob, being eccentric is part of the basic requirements to being a Brit' passport holder? ;-) It's taken me a couple of days, but I've finally decided. They're keepers. .....

I went back to Brent Cross this afternoon. While talking to Mrs Freddy last night, it transpires she liked one of the coats she tried in TK Maxx. Because I didn't make positive remarks about it, the coat stayed in the shop. Hence me going back. I returned and collected the coat. Although I barely had time to do it, I went into Next (all of 20 paces away), and bought both the size 8's I'd left last night. ;-) The male sales assistant didn't bat an eye when I paid for them. ;-) Tried both pairs about 30 minutes ago. Easy to walk in despite each having 4 3/8" heels, both fitted really well. [Made for slim feet mind.] One pair at

Went to Brent Cross (North London) tonight. Did some of the usual suspects browsing for shoes ..... not that I need any, not that I've got space for more, not that I've got an endless budget .... Visited: TK Maxx Next John Lewis Fenwicks Missed: Zara Office New Look Aldo Dune We weren't there for me. Herself needs a new winter coat, and we had a lot of ground to cover in a short space of time. We had so little time, I was tempted to wear regular 'boy' shoes. Thankfully, I relented at the last moment. Next was one of the shops on the list to search for coats. A couple were tried, and I paid attention. ;-) When it was time to leave, I steered us past the shoe section. Now, I get to go in various Next shops fairly frequently, and seldom see shoes in an 8. Next are "true to size" with their shoes and boots, so I expect an 8 to fit. But since I never see the shoes I like in my size, I'm not going to know for sure...... Tonight I found >> these << and >> these << in store, in what could be my size (UK8/EU42). If I was a betting man, I'd have had a significant figure offered against me finding these anywhere, much less two of my favoured styles available in the same store. ;-) (Good job I don't bet then. ;-)) Herself told me there was time to try them on, if I wanted. (Bless her). The shop was practically empty, so there were few issues with me doing just that. But I was also reminded by her, that if I REALLY wanted to try on some size 8 shoes, I had a small mountain of them at home. It's true, and I don't need to pay Next prices for shoes, (

I don't think anyone has any doubt why he was ejected. What was real or otherwise was never believed to be a matter under consideration. My personal appraisal is that he was given guidance about what was, and what wasn't appropriate for this forum by the Admin staff. He was then given ample opportunity to mend his ways, and sadly failed to take up that opportunity. ;-) Onward and upward eh? ...

@HMFROK Excellent post. Forgetting the stuff relating to my footwear for a moment, the news of you at a black tie dinner, with a 'challenge' about your footwear made better (more interesting) reading than just about all GIH posts..... (i) Because I know it to be real, and (ii) it was pertinent. [Though a long time since I've been to a black-tie gig. ] I bet there are many such 'incidents' most you readers believe are trivial, but if written up, would interest us all? [subtle, I'm not. ] Back to the boots. [bootees? To our brethren over the pond.] This evening I've been out to Brent Cross for a couple of hours in boots, then stopped off on the homeward journey for some sustenance. Arrived back home, not long ago at all. First job, try on the boots..... in front of mirror. Tonight was unusual, in that I went out wearing some M+S flaired (girls) trousers, that fit me rather well. For the record, I've a circa 31/32 inch waist. About 5' 7" without shoes. (Okay 5' 6" and a half. ;-)) I get into a size 12 reasonably easily, and a size 10 if I don't plan to sit down and the jeans/trousers have some 'give'. With 4" heels on, I need something like a 'long' which means 33" if in M+S trouser/jean. The reason I put the boots on as soon as I got home, was I haven't seen them under flairs and I wanted to find out if they were more wearable if more of my foot was covered. Well, the answer is; "Yes they are." The zip at the front of them is really hard to spot, and only then when I take a long stride. The heel isn't easily spotted either. I spent about 10 minutes walking toward and away from a medium sized mirror placed on the floor I'd tilted toward my eye-level. Having worn heels for the previous 3 hours, my ankles felt a little more accomodating, and I left the two straps on the boots a little looser than they have been previously. The boots were easier to wear and walk in. Despite their height, they're surprisingly comfortable given the footbed isn't padded. Basically, my two big problems don't exist in any major way. But they're not walking around the street shoes. They are very much footwear for 'a night out', posing rather moving around quickly. Although the previous advice makes a lot of sense, I'm erring on the 'keep' rather than 'go' option at the moment. ;-) ...

He likes them. Probably got a bit flustered and played out his hand a bit too quickly ... ;-) ..

I see that one of the more prolific of our group has been given his (her) marching orders? Little bit unfortunate, though like the Admin here, I was not so interested in what skirt/nylons he (she) was wearing on a day-to-day basis. But I will miss some of the posts. It did seem to me that some of the content of the posts, were .... how should I express this sensitively? A little unlikey? Because of our electronic medium and the geography of the membership, we seldon get to meet each other (subtle dig), so it's hard to know what is real and what is fantasy? I'm sure, and I am sure, some of what I write must be seen as fantasy. Walking around shopping Malls, around high streets, even going to the cinema (once) in heels, truth or fantasy? Some of what allows us to give credence to what might seem like 'amazing' stories, is the confidence we get from knowing the person we're listening to, or the reputation carried by the person we're listening to. [That, while I think about it, is the one thing I miss about HHplace.org. The postings (and virtual blog) of ThighBootGuy(2 ?) Although I've never met the fella, he's more integrity and more talent in his little finger, than I've got in my whole body....] Anyway, I suppose I'm admitting to having doubts about some of 'guyinheels' postings. We Brits are known to be a bit eccentric, but I've never seen a 19 year old boy wearing girls clothes, as a boy/man. I would think it unusual, and I also think it wouldn't be acceptable in the workplace. Maybe a possibility with a pre-op T/S, but otherwise, unlikely. Maybe different in Sweden, but I thought them very conservative? Regardless, I'm gonna miss him/her here. Fantastic life, or fantasy life apart. ;-) ...

"Last minute" meeting around the UK?

Blige, Camden the other week, Oxford and MK. You're certainly getting around. My walking friend asks after you, I'll have to tell her I've offended .... When I first saw the DP shoe/boots, they looked good as they were seen for the most part in quite dark surroundings. In daylight, while attractive, they are very patent. At -

The last pair were for Mrs Freddie (keep up!) I expect to be there with Mrs Freddie from about 12pm to at least 6pm. Not sure what I'm doing on the shoe front yet. Not had much practice lately, and the last time I was at MK HoF I got the closest I've ever been to ending up on my backside after skidding on their vinyl floor covering. Plus I expect to visit family later .... .... -

Those boots have a nice theme to them, but I struggle to like the look of platforms, despite them being on just about every boot I see. Update ...... >> here << they are. TBH, it's been a bit of a mixed bag. House of Fraser (whatever store) know they are for me, and ALWAYS offer me the other shoe to try when I'm buying ..... Had a bit of a spat with TK Maxx recently, but that was because they didn't know they sold such expensive shoes .... and didn't want to do a refund. Nothing to do with the ownership. Used to have a good time at Fenwicks Brent Cross with the Shoe Factory, but the 2 or 3 girls who do the KG Boutique stare .... Didn't stop me trying a couple of pairs on recently. >> These << fitted really well, but were 'outside-of-budget' ..... ;-) .... And have a slight platform. Either one of which makes them less attractive. (-ish). I always pay for shoes and clothes with cash. If I'm buying 'local', and there might be some chance of being recognised as it were, I usually talk someone else into getting the refund. 8) Might cost me a cup of Costa coffee, but it's cheaper than travelling to another town. .... -

Finally remembered to upload pictures of recently acquired shoes/boots. -
HFMROK I certainly need to pull a digit outa somewhere. In some ways the aucton site has a perfectly suitable tool for placing a maximum bid, with the first bidder at any nominated figure getting priority over a second bidder offering an identical amount. My problem is, (and it's beyond sensible rationale), I prefer to see what sort of money an item is selling at, before I start bidding. In reality, placing my highest bid using the auction sites own 'sniper' ought to get me the best (lowest) price, plus I get first dibs at my maximum, if someone else uses an alternate 'sniper' system. If I had placed my highest bid when I had the opportunity, I could have trumped anyone else bidding up to the same amount. Anyone bidding higher, would have beaten me on the item anyway .... My wife reminds me often, I don't need any more shoes/boots. I keep reminding myself of this, whenever I miss buying this style of block heeled boots. Not great consolation I can tell you. ....

Done it again. Spotted some boots on the auction site. THIS time, I put some money on them, only 18 hours from the sale end time. I thought to go back, and if necessary, add money. I remembered about the boots around 10pm tonight, usually a time that might give me 10 minutes to get a further bid in. Sadly, I was about 5 hours too late. Was actually at Hertz collecting a hire car, when the auction ended. >> Missed Dune boots. << ......

Well, two weeks now, and no reply. Shame .... -
No, not been there lately. It's a shop that needs looking at from time to time. I need to visit soon I think. I've seen shoes advertised w ith 'treble' platforms somewhere. It's getting a bit unrealistic..... I don't like platforms really, on me or anyone else. A very thin or thin hidden platform might be okay, but to my limited sense of style, platformed shoes just don't work. ...

You will have to be careful not to press her too hard. For all of her life, your wife will have been (for want of a better word) trained by every situation she's ever been in, to expect men to wear men styles, and women (for the most part) to wear feminine styles. Getting her to accept your look won't be easy, and it won't be quick. But I'm sure with some care and consideration, you'll make progress. Have a read of the wives and girlfriends section. Might be something there of use. Most of us started off the way you have; Discovered something a little unusual about ourselves .... Enjoy! ....
