I would suggest trying a second pair, same size. It wouldn't be the first time I've found variations in a size have enabled me to wear something I first thought might be too small.

"Last minute" meeting around the UK?
FastFreddy2 replied to FastFreddy2's topic in Heelbucks chit chat Cafe
Thanks for your good wishes. It'll be 3 weeks on Sunday. We spent 5½ hours in A+E waiting for the gash to be stitched, and it was so bad the registrar didn't want to do it. She got an experienced nurse to sew up the cut, and I have to say, I'm glad she did. Lovely job done. Usually they don't let relatives watch, but Mrs Freddy has never experienced stitching, so we insisted I stay. Usually I can tolerate any gore, in any situation. But ...... Watching herself bleeding for 20 minutes while being stitched (there was literally a pool of blood on the bed), had my head swimming once or twice. In my defence, I hadn't eaten or drunk anything for more than 6 hours, it was very hot in the trauma bay, and there were unpleasant smells everywhere. [unclean 'patients' ..... Another story in itself.] The area around the cut is still sore to the touch, and the dried blood inside the wound remains, as it (still) has to be kept dry. We are using plastic stitches to keep the wound closed, as it began opening again, as soon as the nylon stitches were removed. [Kept in for 12 days too!] Hopefully, we can stop using these on Sunday. Since it was done while herself was doing the washing up, by way of preventing a similar situation, I've been asked to include a dishwasher in the new kitchen. -
Selling Shoes And Boots

I think I still have 60+ pairs. Given I take 3 years to wear a pair out ..... I would need several life-times to wear the remainder. What's worse, I'm still buying shoes ..... Which reminds me, I need to do some piccies for a couple of reviews. Another free listing weekend. More to go on sale ..... -

Should have gone to meet a couple tonight (in heels) with Mrs Freddy shoe shopping, then meal out at Westfield. Mrs Freddy had an accident with a plate around 2½ weeks ago, producing a large gash needing 6 'proper' stitches. Almost 3 weeks later, the wound is still not close to being healed. She is not able to hold a fork (to eat), and is wearing a white cotton glove in bed to keep the cut clean and leaks off the bedding. Consequently the date as been postponed a while. It's meant I've been doing more washing up, and food prep/cooking than usual, and kept me from writing up the two previous days out. I need some time to edit and upload pictures too. Looks like a lot of others are too busy also? Christmas shopping perhaps? -
Selling Shoes And Boots

A further 6 pairs of mine gone, 2 pairs previously owned by a friend. 5 pairs to go on again. For the most part, it's the more expensive ones that take time to sell.... -
One or two more ........ Some of these groups look like duplicates, but there are differences that show the footwear to better advantage. Socialite Nancy Dell'Olio, and the world famous singer Dionne Warwick, were guests on the Friday show. Could this have 'trumped' the little known but notorious cradle snatcher, Caroline Flack?

Halloween? Certainly seems to be 'dress up' night in the US?

Selling Shoes And Boots

I've put some more shoes and boots up on the auction site. Sizes ranging from UK 6 up through 7 and 8 to UK 9 inclusive. With that size range, you will understand they are not all mine? Might be 13 pairs on offer at the moment. Small number of the listings still need some work like additional pictures, but there's something there for everyone. As before, no links to the listings, thank you. -
Not only the lack of talent, but the predictability of the programme? I read Ben Elton's "Chart Throb" a couple of years ago [on holiday, and very bored - having injured a foot and only able to walk short distances]. Ever since, that show has been like the script from the book, although the book actually mimics/parodies the show. I do get to see the outfits though, in the on-line newspaper Daily Mail: Outfit competition 1 Outfit competition 2 I'm a confirmed strictly It Takes Two fan though.

And I think one day, we are going to read about you being found under the garden patio ...... But I would fully agree, too good an opportunity to miss!

Mrs Freddy might want to argue that ...... You Tube is awash with vids of men out in heels, alone miles from anywhere/anyone. It's not ideal, but it's an answer? If you can't do the heel things together, perhaps you may have to do some heeling alone? Unless you can suppress your interest for the rest of your life, and never wear them?
-
It's a tough call .... And I don't think your situation is at all unusual, unfortunately. Did you not go out one lunchtime to a local store in heels, or has senility gotten the better of me? I was sure you'd managed to get a concession on wearing heels out together? Perhaps you should take up an evening class? Get yourself out somewhere away from home, and maybe have a 'play' while you're out? I know a fella on here who meets a buddy once a month or every other week for a beer. He returns home wearing heels. I'm a man of low expectation. I've kept my goals (easily) achievable .... But I'm not good at wanting something I can't have. It's why I don't covet a swimming pool, a Porsche, or a younger wife. (Okay, I do like the idea of owning a 928, but that's it! ) I'm not sure how I would cope with not being able to do something I felt a need to do? Could be anything; dancing, sky-diving, sailing .... Would eventually make me quite unhappy. I hope you find a solution.

Without understanding every aspect of your life, it's hard to comment ..... ....... but for the most part, experience suggests we are our own barrier to wearing what we want - whenever we want? Of course, wearing 6 inch red patent stiletto's down to the local store to get a newspaper might quickly make you famous for all the wrong reasons .... So some care needs to be taken with shoe choices..... But remember, this life of yours isn't a dry run for the real thing. This is it .....

Pleased to see you here. 'fess up, where have you been? And why no heels?

Hello, and welcome.

Yesssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello, and welcome.

Saw this as a news item on an on-line newspaper, (epaper?) And thought I would share. Scary-Beautiful. There's a good quality video in the feature too. Less fashion, more art.
-
It certainly has! Congratulations on your achievement. I'm sure many like me, would wish to be in a similar situation; confident enough to wear heels full-time without feeling conspicuous or self-conscious.

In responding to your request for comments, I will assume you are looking for comments as you are dressed in the picture. There was a time when rolled up jeans and flat-ish shoes were popular. If memory serves, it would be be America circa 1940's/1950's. The style was known as 'bobby-socks'. Mix them with blue jeans to get the youth-at-play look. Even with the socks, I've never found it a particularly attractive look, even when worn by a woman. And I'm afraid it looks no better when worn by a man. Am I way off the mark, by thinking this picture is less about a dressing style [men in heels style] and more about a statement? For example, a statement of individualism, art, self expression? The notion is supported by the question I feel. "Provocative", indicating that perhaps you expect the look to incite some response? (As indeed it would over here, despite the legendary English reserve. )

"Last minute" meeting around the UK?
FastFreddy2 replied to FastFreddy2's topic in Heelbucks chit chat Cafe
Doesn't sound like a UK specific thing? Though I have a friend who experienced a similar problem here. He married a girl from Cuba. Them going back to Cuba for holidays, was an expensive and time consuming operation. Fortunately the people they needed to provide assistance were only 30 miles away in London. Usually meant spending at least one day sitting around in solicitors/Embassy waiting rooms though .... We'll still be here when the citizenship hurdle is removed. Hopefully sooner rather than later. -

I am VERY surprised at that. Very very very surprised. If you would like some help from inside the UK, use the message system on here, and I'm try to smooth things to an easier entry. We have people walking into the UK all the time who shouldn't be here. If caught, they are told to show up for a meeting to discuss their entitlement to residency, which of course few are daft enough to attend. Our border/immigration controls are considered a joke. I'm kinda aware of your situation. I recognise the potential of a problem, but also understand the submission of the correct paperwork should allow you to obtain a visa. It's not like our economy is doing so well we want to refuse visitors anyway. We are actually ramping up efforts to attract wealthy Chinese away from France ..... You are just the sort of people we want visiting! I'd be happy to help. -

No takers? Well, it's still on. Early afternoon around Trafalgar Square, then late lunch at either Covent Garden or possibly just off Oxford Street. Window shopping and walking off lunch, before returning home for mid evening. As I'll be driving, I'll have at least 3 pairs of ankle boots in the car, with a pair of the boots shown in my avatar. Taking these for a man-in-heels mate to try on, if there's an opportunity. Assuming he shows of course. Weather not looking too clever, but it's Autumn after all. "Windy, with some showers, heavy at times." I don't have to watch the weather report; for the next month or so, that phrase will echo out most days. Right up until it snows!
