"Last minute" meeting around the UK?
Shyheels replied to FastFreddy2's topic in Heelbucks chit chat Cafe
Living in or near London would not be my thing - I'd be wanting something far more rural, and possibly on the continent so there would be a greater freedom to explore and migrate. -
She has apparently always been at the cutting edge of fashion so I would imagine she has plenty of experience with gliding in stiletto heels - even so, it takes good poise, balance and flexibility to do well at it. Perhaps she has had ballet or other dance training. That would do it.

I love the blue and white canal boat! I could quite happily live on one -
She looks very elegant and classy. I am amazed that she - or indeed anyone - can get about so gracefully in heels that high.
-
I am also not a fan of the latex look - too fetishy. I guess I am kind if conservative on these things
-
Exposed midriffs and the Barbie look doesn't do it for me, I'm afraid.
-
Don't be too quick to judge. Instant success would depend on the height of the heels relative to the size of your foot, and the overall flexibility of your feet, ankles and calf muscles. A four-inch heel is far easier to walk in if you have a size 12 foot than it would be if you wore only a size seven. And in any case having strong flexible ankles is a huge advantage.

I had never even heard of that show - which probably gives a good indication of my knowledge of pop culture. I would be hard pressed to name any of the shows on TV these days. I could walk right past any number of A list celebrities without having a clue who they are!
-
Phil Knight - of Nike fame - is, I believe, a billionaire.
-
Yes, that was a surprise! Looks like they were having fun
-
I agree. The overblown facial work grabs too much attention. As a whole, taking away the face and head, not a bad look for the PVCs! What is TOWIE? I never watch TV and what I know about celebrities you could chisel on an aspirin tablet...

I would certainly do quite a few things differently - and certainly, getting myself financially set would be high on my list. Not going out and being the corporate the, but using my gifts to better advantage and hopefully being better aware of opportunity wen it arises, instead of seeing it six months, or six years, later and in hindsight. But I would also certainly be more willing to express myself, assert myself, and not concern myself nearly so much with the opinions and expectations of others.

Yes, the lady in red is not sporting a look that appeals to me - and yes, I'd say this is latex of some sort. Not PVC. I much prefer the demure look. Also PVC makes such a strong statement that its use really needs to be kept to a tasteful minimum, and then paired with something soft as a counterpoint. One can do that with classy black PVC jeans, but not red, and certainly not with latex.

Indeed! Climbing Everest (never attempted) or rafting grade 6 rapids (which I have done) or rounding Cape Horn in a yacht (also done) offer their own sense of fulfilment - neither less no more than exploration of the inner self, but requiring different clothes... While I like my PVC jeans, I do not wear Lycra while cycling.
-
I wear them because I can. And while that may seem eccentric - and I know you meant that in the best sense - and I couldn't care less about this little eccentricity. It is a belated pushback against years of conformity, a badge, if you will, of my inner bohemian. A bit adolescent, really, this sort of badged rebellion, but at this late date I guess I am making up for lost time. It's bit tricky too, to set the right tone as I don't want to confuse this boho raffishness with fetish - because that's not it at all. I wear my otk suede boots for much the same reason - because I like, and have always liked, the look and now that I feel free to adopt it, I do. I don't mix these things, as that would look awful. But I try to wear one or the other every day, for the sheer uninhibited pleasure of it.
-
In that event, I actually did pick up a spare pair - I really like them a lot and figured that when they are gone, they'll be gone. I am not hard on my clothes and these are quite well made so I expect I shall be able to wear PVC jeans in my office for as long as I like.
-
They are pretty much office wear....
-
Wam day for wearing them today, but my Topshop PVCs have become my go-to workwear these days. After never daring even to contemplate wearing such attire for so many years, I think I like the idea of it being my workwear nearly as much as the wearing of it!
-
Much more sophisticated! Wearing PVC needn't be tarty...
-
True. Sad, but true. I just don't 'get' the style of celebrities today - not that I had ever heard of this lady before, and still don't have a clue why she is famous or celebrated. Mostly they just appear trashy.
-
The pout and the sticky lips and the oversized shades are hideous - almost a caricature. As you say the asymmetric top and tattoo do her few favours either. Nothing appealing there at all.
-
She certainly fills them out. Not a look that appeals to me
-
Fashion in general seems to favour a much more slovenly look these days - witness the badly torn jeans that are so much in vogue. Hoodies, butt-ugly shorts are also part of the look. The dressy formality of heels has no place in this. Neither does the notion of suffering for fashion or anything else.

I have several pair of suede boots and love them. One does have to take greater care with suede, especially in wet weather, but I like suede very much. I never gave any thought to be frank about whether or not suede was a no-go area for men. It didn't occur to be it wasn't. It is of course a softer look than regular leather - but that is one of the things I like about it, especially for tall boots. Suede softens what could otherwise be a hard look. -

I used to wear Teva sandals while hiking in tropical rainforests but too many leeches found their way onto my toes. Back to good old sturdy boots...
