  1. Good report! You obviously walk in a heel very well, as to not draw attention. I've mentioned it before, but I (once) rather foolishly perhaps, tried to get through the security checks in a tall heeled boot. It hadn't occurred to me, I might be picked out to remove them, so they could go through the x-ray machine alone with my phone and car keys ...... In front of several hundred queueing people, I had to remove my boots and put them in a tray. Collect them, and put them back on..... I was scarlet faced at the time, but I don't remember a single person being interested in my boots.
  2. Can you email it to me? I'll reduce it with Paintshop? [And send it back?]
  3. You could have stopped right there, and I would have said you had a great night out, even if you ended up in jail. Thankfully no jail ..... But some enthusiastic support too. Lucky, lucky man. As good as it gets? Living the life your soul wants to live. Excellent report.
  4. Had something of a close shave today ..... We (generally) don't have visitors at the Maison de Freddy, because we don't have spare hard-hats. It really is, a cross between a building site and storage facility here. So, imagine my surprise when Mrs Freddy enters the house, with one of her oldest girlfriends, and girlfriends grand-daughter. As they haven't seen each other much in the 18 years me and Mrs Freddy have been together (very long story), the visit can only be to show her friend around the building site. The two were reunited some 3 weeks ago, after something like a 16-17 year absence. So I have two pairs of heeled boots on the main living room floor, with three (okay, two and a half) people walking toward the room. As luck would have it, I'd recently bought 4 metres of bubblewrap, and that was also laying on the floor (where the cat had left it.) Rather like a wave from a leading matador, I picked up the bubblewrap and 'expertly' covered the shoes just as the half person ran into the room looking for the cat. (Which incidentally, then ran away.) While the half person would know no better, only being just 5 years old, her grandmother would know. Worse, she has some previous knowledge of me (though not in the biblical sense). She knows I have a thing for heels on girls, and for the moment, it's how I'd like to keep it. We are shortly to start having foursomes. These two good friends had become estranged some 16 or so years ago, because communications then, were not what they are now. (Isn't Facebook wonderful?) Turns out, 'lost friend' lives a measured 10 minute walk away. Yep, almost literally neighbours, and have been for nearly 3 years. This could be interesting .....
  5. Oooh, you'll definitely get a bit more attention with those.
  6. Picture? Sounds like a good time was had. Oh yesssss.
  7. She's one of the favoured models in DM online. Usually in there at least once a week. [Did you watch her on the Keith Lemon show?] Couple more links >> Out at night in those heels << >> Floral dress << >> Beret and heels << Nice dress ........
  8. And for those International members who may not be aware who Kelly Brook is, a reminder: >> Kelly << I'm sure I've put a link up about her before, but you can't have too much of a good thing.
  9. So, not only do we get to be jealous about where you live and your life in general ..... We get to be jealous of your beautiful/encouraging wife. Great wheels ...... Great heels ...... AND NOW ..... Going to/from workplace in a huge facility .... in heels. You're a hard man to like. Very well done! "He who dares" eh?
  10. I think you have to decide .... What would happen if the situation was not agreeable to new friends? If they are aware/expecting heels. then go as 'eccentric' as you would like. If they are completely unaware, then bootcut jeans over (read: "covering") modest heels should be very acceptable? Of course, we expect FULL REPORT. Good luck!
  11. Having had at least two winning bidders (and it may well be 3) with no payment to follow, I now only count sales where I see sight of the money. So I can say with confidence, I've finally sold a pair of shoes! Someone who was interested in the sold pair, but who didn't bid, might be interested in some I haven't yet listed. Possibly, folk are looking to spend again?
  12. Bike has been here 29 hours ..... and I haven't looked at it. Still boxed, hidden from me. Why? If it's anything less than perfect, I will want to cry!
  13. The bath is now permanently back. It's glued to the wall, and supported in over 3 of the 4 sides. [some of the 4th side enjoys being hidden by a return wall.] When I 'bonded' it in using silicon, I kept water in the bottom of the bath for 3 days while the stuff went off. During that time, I put additional packing underneath, where the 40mm lip wasn't quite 40mm and left a gap between the support rail I'd fitted to the wall. In some places there was a 3mm gap, which there no longer is. I hope I never have to remove the bath again, as I'm fairly confident it won't be coming out in one piece. The very poorly positioned mains cable running over one of the two RSJ's holding up the upper floor. I've added some plastic trunking to further isolate the cable from grounding on the RSJ in the event of a water leak. Originally the access hole was 12" [30cm] square. As you can see, the mains cable sits underneath a water trap. The potential for water leaks is enormous. I've stapled some thick plastic over the cable to act as an umbrella. Two of the four corner repairs. Note side No.4 These two broke when I removed the bath for the final time. As the corners were hollow, my only surprise was they didn't fail earlier. I didn't get the reinforcing brackets in every corner, as two of them were round not square. I did reinforce all four corners though. The wall with no support for the bath lip, is the return wall on side 4. In for good. The fully tanked walls are visible above the bath. The bath support legs [5] are also visible as is the bath rim support on the left hand side. .....
  14. Yes. I have for a very long time, and haven't yet given up hope of learning. When I was younger, for a while I helped out in a shoe repair shop on the retail side. The day I was there, the cobbler was off. The shop also sold fishing tackle, and that was my 'in' to being there. [Fishing.] Loved the smell of the place.... When I did my photography qualification, I did a study on one of the last two cobblers in the area. I have a photograph of a fella hitting a nail into the heel of a shoe that he was repairing. With very little light in the work area, I have a blurred arm indicating movement. The picture is in black and white, and is an image I'm particularly proud of. I suspect the subject will have passed some considerable time ago. Houses have sat on the cobblers old shop site, for a good 25 years... I did once have a go at making some high heel shoes out of fibreglass resin and woven fibreglass material. Possibly, I still have them in my 'old trunk'. As I acquired some handmade shoes from the LSB, I never needed to finish them off. Having had to use fibreglass again recently to repair a new bath (rather than to repair rusty old cars), I have been thinking of having another try at finishing off the original idea .... I doubt it will go further than thinking about it though. Also, I keep forgetting, Mrs Freddy's grandfather was a cobbler. A good cobbler, but not so good businessman. He made a living, but died poor, having undercharged more frequently than he should have. "A bit of a soft touch" I believe.
  15. Another win! Well done sir! You are in good company. Seen today in one of our on-line national newspapers ..... Contestant and now TV presenter Ryan Clark Link to article >> here << Of course, you entertainers are well-known for your eccentricities, so would probably be entitled to a lot of latitude when it comes to 'dress sense'. Another entertainer known for 'working it', also appearing today ..... Link >> here <<
  16. Me too, but I will not pay £92 for two hours of any entertainment, no matter who the singer is. [unless someone with a time machine goes back for Karen Carpenter.] I'm only going now, because I got in on a 2-4-1 deal which makes the ticket cost, just about bearable. My big love is Puccini's 3 opera masterpieces, Turandot, Tosca, and Madam Butterfly. After selling my first property, I moved back in with my parents. A bit flush I went to see Madame Butterfly at the Royal Albert Hall. I (somehow) shared a box, not sure how that came about, but it was a very very very good seat. The let down was Pinkerton - a US Naval Officer in the early 1900's - being played by a (very competent) black singer ..... And the 15 years old Cio-Cio-San played by another competent singer, who wasn't slim and didn't look to be a day under 40 - despite the make-up. "Casting", obviously not very interested in character portrayal ..... Now that was a missed Trip Advisor report .....
  17. Of 2282 reports, only 126 were disfavourable. That's 5% of those bothering to report. Given that the motivation for most reporting is dissatisfaction (as a human trait) I'm very happy with that ratio. The four most recent reports: I had to go to reviewer No.8 to get this: Coming from someone who found the Diana Princess of Wales Fountain "Moving" but also found the rebuilt Cutty Sark "average, so won't be returning...." I don't for a second believe our tastes are similar, so her experience is not pertinent to me anyway. Given I don't much like musicals, I'm not expecting a life changing experience. But I've waited a long time to see it, and just as importantly, it's going to be a great excuse for wearing a 'girlie' heel. If I like it, I'll be doing it again at MK next year, providing I'm able to get tickets of course. .....
  18. I hope the reviews regarding "poorly-rehearsed school musical" is the travelling rep version, rather than the West End show? As far as the original one is concerned, I've read about people going several times, they liked it so much. 2014 still seems like a long way off. Plenty of time to hone their performance? If the West End show is as good as I hope it will be (and I don't much like musicals), I might be tempted to see it again in a more local venue. Though not too local, obviously ...
  19. Early days yet, and the event is in September ..... But booked tickets this morning to see "Wicked" at Apollo Victoria Theatre, London. I've only been waiting about 2 years ..... Finally, ticket promotion/availability/date/seat position, finally lined up. I'd been looking at seats in a particular area, that usually had gone for around £90. With demand reducing, the tickets had reduced a little in price too, and there's a promotion during late September/October. Got two tickets, and all fees for £90. REALLY good seats too. Had tried to book some good seats before, around birthdays or Christmas, the tickets being so costly they'd have to form part of a 'gift'. Getting a good day meant Mrs Freddy having the next day off work, as we're bound to have a fairly late night having to eat after the show. Had spent hours in the past trying to just get these three parts lined up. Today, I was in the right place at the right time. I've a month to work out what shoes to wear. Heels, obviously .... but which ones?
  20. I had saved a link to the Daily Mail article mentioned in the link above, thinking to use it another time. I had no idea about the actual scanner, so was pleased to see the write up and pictures. Comments were good too. REALLY enjoyed the You Tube audio song from Steve Martin called http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feTrJSWnqdk. A bit loud at the end, so not office safe. Not until I had to find the saved link for the DM article, did I read the comments there. As a heel wearer, it made interesting/amusing reading. Nearly 100 people, with nearly 100 different opinions and experiences.
  21. I saw these recently. Really high 'rise', which makes them attractive to me. Bit obvious in public though .... Direct from China.
  22. I had thought the charity normally associated with this, was one of the ladies (breast) cancer charities. [Pink ribbon?] But seems not. Doing a search brings up "Domestic violence awareness", and how it effects both women (obviously) and men (less obviously). It also looks more like this is often an annual event, run on an anniversary of the very first event of its kind, in America at least? There was a walk in London during June or July. There's one in Portsmouth during November, if I remember correctly. Here is a link for anyone looking to start an event: >> The White Ribbon Campaign << I have to say, domestic violence is an uncomfortable subject, for me at least. And possibly one that might be a bit uncomfortable for many people, as un-PC as that notion might be. I read about it too often in the newspapers, and I consider it a heinous crime..... Better leave it at that.
  23. I vaguely remember someone doing a high heeled walk a couple of years ago, and there's a thread here (perhaps 3 or 4 years old) where the member asked for other members to choose his footwear for "Walk No.2"? I also (vaguely) remember someone linking an event last year or the year before, to a similar W-A-M event that subsequently got cancelled? These are great opportunities to help 'good cause' charities, and be a little self-indulgent too. But as Euchrid rightly says, using people for sponsorship that are close enough to constantly remind you of your performance, maybe a benefit with very high (and longterm) personal cost. I'm not overly sure about the dress code either..... Note: This is a widely published image, (which I do not own) so there is no need to edit out anything. I'd only removed some of the more easily recognised faces, simply to highlight the one my comment is referring to. .......
