  1. Apparently they still have a slate grey pair in 41 at the MK branch .... Shyguy .... Any chance you could get them for me if you get over that way? [i'll sort you out via P/P.] .....
  2. Went to Brent Cross this afternoon as planned, and didn't meet any of you.... Had a look around at the remainder of the sale shoes, and no less disappointed than the last time I looked. In fact the ONLY pair of interest were these found in John Lewis: KG by Kurt Geiger ~ Menzies Which I'm sure I saw priced in the sale at £79 ..... I've already bought two pairs, but branded Carvela [less expensive little sister to KG]. Got one pair from TK Maxx at £39.99 and the second pair from ASOS at around £42 if I remember. Lovely fit, with almond shaped toe and seriously padded footbed. Good height heel too. As previously reported, there with Mator, and my walking friend. Ate at John Lewis, which was quite a surprise. Restaurant I wanted to visit has becomme a Nandos, which is a chicken with everything style eatery. Not for me.... The birthday girl, now confirmed at 82 [and probably 81 this time next year], wanted a mushroom omelette. Carluccios wanted £9.75 to make her one. John Lewis wanted £7.05 and their's came with two slices of toasted bread with butter, and a salad garnish that was in fact a salad. There was enough mushrooms in the omelette for a meal on their own. Myself and my companion opted for penne with tomato and basil sauce with grated Parmisan topping. Two more substantial meals at circa £7 each. We spent the same on 3 meals in JL as we were expecting to spend in Carluccios for 2 people. Well done JL. On the down side, mother had 3 or 4 fork-fulls, and decided she was finished. 40 mile round trip .... dragged her around various parts of the Mall to broaden her day out. Possibly half the time we were there spent finding a suitable eatery to get the meal she wanted, only for her to have enough food to barely cover a saucer. Happy Birthday! .....
  3. Not so small maybe? Seems to me you're doing what many people who come here [either to contribute or more likely to read], are not doing .... And that's walking out in public with your SO/wife/girlfriend wearing heels. Well done you. ....
  4. My shortlist of your shortlist. Paricularly like the Next wedges. "Noticed" them a couple of times in the past, but not succumbed..... Yet. .....
  5. Good move. Been three years I know about .... No signs of wearing her down yet? .....
  6. Found 'em. Bit high for your immediate needs at just over 3" [3 3/8" actually.] They are black suede not grey, I just over-exposed the image to get detail. Fairly roomy, and new/boxed. Rubber soles so easy to play Ninja games with dog and wife as your footsteps will be silent. Black suede almost invisible to anyone walking past as there's no reflected detail from them. Not in the dark anyway. ....
  7. My usual timekeeping performance stopped this happening. That and I couldn't find the invoices sent with the boots and a requirement for refunds..... Organised? Moi? ....
  8. The boots are very wearable. [Cute even?] Good point. As you might expect, I'd prefer you in slightly higher heels ..... but I'm not your wife. And 'a note' from me wouldn't get you out of the doghouse either, if you made a poor purchasing decision. I've got in the back of my mind the notion I might have some long black suede wedge boots somewhere. Boxed and new, that I bought off Ebay but don't wear them for some reason. Sizing is usually the problem [too small and too big], but I think these just weren't high enough for me. [ie. Too easy to walk in.] I'll try to remember to have a dig around tomorrow am. Babysitting the builder again, so I'll be house bound. If they are of interest, they're yours for the price of the postage [to be paid to the Sally Army or Blind Charity.] If I find them, I'll do a picture and post it here. ....
  9. Nice choice. They've caught my eye too. £45 though .....
  10. Have to say, no surprises with your comments. "Security" checks at the airport while seemingly worthwhile, for me, make something unpleasant all but intolerable. I haven't travelled by air for almost 3 years prefering to let herself holiday with friends while I stay at home staring at the walls. A girlfriend from Colombia was petite, as were her friends. I've always expected the South Americans branch of the human race to be smaller everywhere, including the foot department. Hope you have some luck with shoes when you settle in a bit. Maybe the hotel Concierge can offer some guidance as to where you might look? If you do find something worth recording of the 'special interest' nature, do please share it if you can find a way of doing so. It'll maybe give the H4M site a bit of a Latin flavour! Stay well, and enjoy!
  11. I'm really liking >> these << Claimed as ever-so-slightly higher than required though I'm not convinced .... Wedge not block ..... But silent in use, and deceptive in look. [seem like Derriboots. ] Very very very passable! .....
  12. Thursday evening ..... Oxford Street. Got some boots to return to ALDO. Saturday afternoon ..... Brent Cross. Out with mother. Her 83rd birthday we believe. Taking her somewhere public for a meal. Hopefully not a repeat of last year.... Some lad in the eatery close to us had his trousers at half mast. Herself wasn't impressed at having to see his undies while she ate. Against our advice, she told him off for being semi-undressed in a public place. Think him and his parents left soon after. If anyone here ever wondered where my apparent bluntness came from .... look no further. ....
  13. I did mention "User Profile" thread..... Details: So, none of it seems to work? ....
  14. You do realise in asking a question like that, [especially to a Virgo like me] you open a can worms? ie. Place looks prettier. Email advise of PM's extremely good. Adding pictures, formatting text seems easier. Emoticons don't all work. Hit [show All] button over there >>>>> No lag in Edit Remark after initial post. [so back to where it looks like you amended a post even if you only added a letter for a spelling correction 1 minute after initial posting. And there doesn't seem to be a way of providing a reason for the subsequent edit. eg. "Reason for edit; Spelling corrections".] User profile don't work. [see thread.] Better? Yes. Still got some rough corners ? .... Don't ask a Virgo. ....
  15. Well, older people tend to have minds that wander.... Have difficulty keeping their mind 'on-track' (on thread) so to speak. I suppose ideally one of us should have 'snapped' off a bit of conversation and started a new thread, but the one here wouldn't have ended well, and the new thread might have started abruptly with no reason for why it started. Plus the next problem might have been, new thread in Chit-chat or Outfit Critique, given we were talking about clothes? ....
  16. Slim pickings today. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Foot-Cushion-Riga-Wedge-Ankle-Boots-SIZE-8-/270694345122?pt=Women_s_Shoes&hash=item3f06a3e9a2 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LADIES-BLACK-ANKLE-BOOTS-SIZES-6-8-NEW-140-/130476737569?pt=Women_s_Shoes&var=&hash=item641ed7cd36 Surprised about the 'manly boots with heels' as they would have passed anywhere I would have thought?
  17. Can't help but compare the Schuh Lois to the ALDO Arianne courts. Schuh
  18. Lefthand heel problem with Chupka pair No. 2 .. Notice lump on side of heel. Tried to remove the heel tip from the righthand boot to replace it. Tip wouldn't move, and broke in the wrong place for extraction. Not good. To remove it now means drilling out the old tip. I'm quite capable of doing this, but don't know if it's worth bothering. The heel isn't straight [vertical] and I'm now thinking the tip wasn't twisted, but the heel is slightly canted? Canted heel? On balance, returning them as they are is the favourite option. The plastic tip came off with the top of the splined bit inside. With the tip placed back on the shoe, they look complete. I'm wondering if the wrong size tips were used, and this was always going to happen at some stage. The knock-on to that thought, is I have 4 other ALDO pairs with possibly the same problem ..... Picture of the box used to send Levere style. P.S. How clever am I ... [4+1= ?] I've just realised I have four pairs of ALDO boots, and one pair of ALDO black patent courts. (See Schuh thread.) ...
  19. First browse produced these: http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item2eb2b312f0 http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item4aa7e45834 http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item4cf48e5752 http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item2c5a2f1daf Manly boots with heels http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item45f8222a51 Manly from front My preferrred style were the first pair, but maybe too high. All listed are either new, or claimed 'as new' in description. All fairly inexpensive too.
  20. I found a similar difference in attitudes from ALDO. At Lakeside I tried on in the shop [walked up and down] some 4 3/4" black patent courts I'd fancied for some time. They fitted, and I could walk in them. Although I'm not a mind reader, I think it fair to say the assistant [an Asian girl if I remember] was seemingly miffed that I didn't buy! [£50 was the real reason. I waited quite a long time and get them in a sale, for significantly less money.] In both Bluewater and Oxford Street, entirely different attitude. Couldn't even get the attention of an assistant in Bluewater, I guessed because I was standing next to the girls shoes. Things seem a bit mixed at Schuh too. The local Barratts to me is run by a woman who's been there over 2 years. She kinda 'knows' me, or at least recognises me when I visit. When Barratts had styles I liked, I shopped there from time to time, sometimes with herself. [The good woman has a taste for Sketcher flats, which Barratts include in their Sales from time to time.] Any size 8's were obviously for me, though I never tried them on in the shop as it's too close to my home town. But buying and returning them were never any bother, and I'd say no-one involved had any doubt who they were for. I guess my biggest worry might have been the Manager asking me to try them on in the shop, so she could avoid some paperwork if I wasn't going to keep them. Bit of aside .... But I seldom even look in Barratts these days. The ankle boots I purchased and returned were not of the quality expected for the price. Many stores including M+S and NEXT, sell better products [fit/quality] for either the same or less money. If you can wait for the styles you like to move into Sale territory, ALDO and ASOS do better styles and better quality for less money. Thinking about it, Tesco currently have a boot style in their sale for >> £7 in store *right click then select Open in New Window* << and a newer version of the boot [similar but not same] for >> £22 *right click then select Open in New Window* <<, either of which match anything I might be tempted by at Barratts. ["So in conclusion then, not a big fan?" ] * Tesco doesn't seem to allow direct parsed links. .....
  21. I'll keep my eyes peeled. I'm usually found looking at my automated searches around midnight. [sad man. ] I'm sure it won't be too long ....
  22. Saturday [evening] is probably going to be busier than Sunday [evening] .... Though I'd favour a dry Sunday over a wet Saturday. [Just to be awkward. ] That said I've found a brolly an excellent disguise for the top half of a body that's got heels on the lower half. I might also contact a member called Euchrid, to find out how he's fixed. Met him several times in London, as he's quite game for a meet. I've pointed hh4evr1 at the thread, and he seems keen on a meet too. So subject to confirmation from the other two prospectives .... Saturday 5th then. ....
