Not going to get much use outside at the moment then. Though you probably get less rain than us up here in the Home Counties. I asked the question about where/if they were worn to find out what the response might be in a shopping mall, supermarket or the local corner shop. Me wearing a long boot under jeans presents no challenge but has the prospect of helping to keep me warm, Wearing over a slim leg jean might be more of a challenge, but could help keep me dry in a deluge, typical of the weather today. And two weeks ago when I got caught out walking to meet Mrs F from work. Brolly kept my top half dry, but from the knee down .... Not so dry.

And you go 'out and about' dressed this way (as opposed to being at home)?

Loving that phraseology.... Just for clarity, do you wear your boots over or under a trouser or jean? Earlier in the season I had looked at something similar, and may even have mentioned it. "The Plan" was to have a flat boot I could wear under my usual leg attire (dark jeans) and maybe, over some of the slim legged jeans I now own care of Sainsbury and Zara. Of the two prospective pairs found, one was these: The other pair were (I think) Carvela/KG and offer at £220 originally, later reduced to £139 or somewhere around that. I did get to try a pair on, but baggy ankles took them off the shopping list.

For my part, I might have been (definitely was) a bit laisser-faire with my use of the term OTK boot, using it as a generic term for anything reaching above the knee (which would be technically correct, but a bit vague in practice). For around a year or more, I have been looking for a stretchy long boot, that would reach some inches above my knee. While 'old school' terminology might (rightly) refer to these as "thigh boots" since this is where they terminate (mid-thigh), retailers typically use the term "OTK boots" as there is no sexual connotation with that description. The boots I finally found that fitted like the proverbial, might be better known in some circles as "crotch-boots" since that was pretty close to where they terminated. The retailer described them as 'extra high OTK' boots, which is a much more agreeable term for an item of street clothing to be worn in a non-fetish environment. I really should of taken some photo's of the boots, but black suede doesn't photograph well. Actually, subsequently found to be incorrect. "Super Thigh High Boots" is the correct description.

Been over a year since this threat was touched - quelle surprise. Contrary to what I keep saying I will do, I've sold very little over the past year. In fact I've done a lot more buying than selling. Obviously the big place to sell is Evilbay, where the auction site takes around 15% of your bidders money. I'd had a pair of shoes on the web site for a year, priced at something like £15 delivered. Some Truffle 'barely there' shoes that usually sell for £18. I got £10 delivered for them. The sale netted me around £5. Not just disappointing, but frustrating really, as these were a great fit. With a 5" heel, I would like to have worn them out. It might be a great place to buy, but not so good for selling, sadly. I would describe it as a place to dispose, with some small financial compensation. That said, the PVC/faux leather thigh boots I've sold in the past, seemed quite popular...

OTK boots seem to be more popular (or at least as popular) as any other type of shoe there is. I could understand girls wearing them so much if they had legs with varicose veins or thread-veins all over their legs .... Or a creaky back. but none of this is likely. So why the interest, and why the interest with OTK boots that have open toes? A contraction in purpose surely? Recently, I FINALLY found a style of OTK that actually fitted, AND came really high. In black 'faux' suede with 5 inch heel. Might have been made for me, but the heel on one boot wasn't vertical. Returned, an outcome I will probably live to regret. No pictures, sorry.

This is something just about every member here has to deal with .... I started shaving late on, with some parts of my cheeks missing thicker 'beard' hair altogether. Probably shaved once every other day, maybe every third day before I was around 18? Didn't like it, still don't. Given the opportunity, I'd have every hair on my body removed except eyebrows and eyelashes. Nature is taking care of the stuff on my head .... Sadly the beech is sending it to all places I want it even less. Top of my arms, around my ears .... I can practically grow a beard out of my nose these days... Fortunately for me, electric shavers exists, and I use nothing else on my face, nor have done for quite some time.... Doesn't give me what some would know as a close shave, (though I have cut my lip once or twice) but means I don't remove the upper layer of my epidermis when I shave. My face still doesn't like being shaved, but I'm not big on beards either, trendy or otherwise. I shave my face under sufferance. I've mentioned several times in the past, I like to shave my legs. I do this for a number of reasons, the main one being I don't like to seeing my legs if they look like I swapped them with a gorilla. I tend to grow thin curly hair on my legs, that might be typical, but mine grows long. Were I more dexterous, I might even be able to decorate my legs with plaits. I'd like to trim them more than once a year, but my working average over the last 5 is about that, once a year and usually in the Spring. So in keeping with a 6 or 7 year tradition, I gave my hairy legs a close shave with a razor last night. It may be I'll have the blood cleared up later this morning.... I'm sure this is a job best done by someone else while I watch, but so far, no volunteers... Actually, I didn't do as badly as usual, with only the one artery cut, so bandages on the one leg this year. Mrs Freddy doesn't know how I manage to get into this 'blood-letting' exercise armed with a "safety" razor because she doesn't. Perhaps I should be ashamed to admit it, but I just haven't had as much practice so haven't developed the same skill level. Plus I (historically) had a natural aversion to razors, in whatever form they take. Last year I used some hair removal cream. It didn't go too badly, but Thames Water needed a call out to unblock the sewer further down the road. They are still trying to find the culprit. They did knock at my door, but on seeing my grey hair, knew immediately the black bushy stuff clogging the sewer couldn't be down to me. Fortunately I was dressed at the time, or the game would have been up. Not that the cream didn't affect my skin. On the label, I'm told it clearly says to "wash off if burning sensation is experienced". Men don't read User Instructions (I'm pretty sure we're not allowed) so I got a small patch of skin 'angry' through trying the hair removal cream. What might not have helped is that this stuff is a bit old. Not quite Victorian (we threw that away when we found there were adverse effects to the lime ingredients) but the bottle has a picture of a WWII bomber on it, but no date? Time to throw it away too perhaps. Maybe after I use it again next year... My legs are currently, pretty much hairless. Bloodied, but hairless. Brings a peculiar sensation to my legs while wearing leggings, which I always do unless we are in the height of summer. Not entirely unpleasant I would say, but currently 'peculiar'. I guess it's a sensation women take for granted if they wear hose or leggings. Rather like us men when get to touch a face that hasn't needed shaving to appear soft and smooth. Just like a ladies face should be.

And a new fashion trend is born. Actually, from the style sense, it makes sense. It's probably quite a balanced look.

I hope I get to see them when they re-stock. The link doesn't show what they look they now, so they've maybe gone completely? And now it does!! Them's shiny! To be honest, £55 is a bit out of my league really, but I have been known to do be uncareful with my money in the past.

It's my experience, people used to 'keeping a secret' are seldom gregarious, outgoing people. I suppose politicians and actors might be notable exceptions, but there are fewer still of those here.... Am I wrong in thinking that for a large part of their lives, men into wearing a heel or any attire that might be considered something outside their gender group, have become 'expert' at hiding their real self? In that light, are we expecting too much from the membership here? In times gone past, I have started several/many topics that were nothing to do with men-in-heels, that for the most part got nowhere. Seems to me, many who could contribute, are here to look at heels, maybe hear about them, and very little else. In many respects, this forum could only be filled with one of two categories by each member: (i) stuff we do, or (ii) stuff we are interested in. My interests are: Buying/wearing heeled shoes and boots. Photography (image recording.) Anything DIY or building related. Off-road cycling (roads are far too dangerous.) Some music (got a pathological dislike of anything related to rock or heavy metal.) Used to quite like dancing (mostly informal, but also enjoyed formal for the couple of weeks I did it.) Like to visit places of interest, especially if water is around. Quite like to eat cake. The list is not necessarily in order of precedence of course..... Ooopsy. And I take an interest in politics... and films. I like social interaction, but at my age, that mostly means funerals. I've pretty much started topics on all of those, and 'stuff' I've done or intend to do. I'm a bit disappointed Heels has said "no-one responds" as my pseudonym is plainly "no-one". I've responded the backside off just about every post made, trying to encourage further participation. I quite like this place, it's full of individuals who have 'ploughed their own furrow' which should mean people here have interesting and enlightening experiences to share.... Maybe not?

The gig didn't happen, for me at least. The Freddies spent the Christmas period bunged up with the 'cold' and cough doing the rounds. (Well if it's good enough for the Queen .....) Bit of a shame as I'd put no small amount of effort into ensuring I had a choice of two (androgynous) outfits, one of which involved a top bought direct from China that proved to have an ignorable fault... I hadn't decided on footwear, but red patent courts represented 50% of the choices shortlisted. Am about to look around for a Plan B. Not that the impending (Arctic) weather, will lend itself to trotting around in heels, in what looks like quite a skimpy outfit. Was in London's West End yesterday. Really, only wanted to visit Selfridges, but left it a bit late during the sale period. Not much left in my shoe size, but it was the first opportunity with the two of us anything near fit enough to join the rest of the world. Also did House of Fraser, and John Lewis, but no purchases made. I tried on a pair of shoes in John Lewis with no one paying any notice. I also took one of my high heeled boots off in HoF (to adjust my hose socks) which didn't produce any looks I was aware of either. People too busy with their own lives perhaps? There were plenty of people about, with the stores fairly busy. Took me an unusually long time to get parked, with the significant increase in "Residential Parking" around the shopping areas exacerbating the problem. Maybe I need to find some better places South of Oxford Street? Looks like I will be returning sometime soon. I have a second pair of the Tokologo to go back. These are the stylist boots bought at half-price (£40 down from £80) with toe-boxes so hard they are uncomfortable. A bit like wearing steel-toe-capped-safety-shoes. Shame, as they are a lovely shape, and good walking height.

Well, answers in abundance ..... At the moment, it rather looks like one of the Torture Garden gigs it is. Without a visit to a fetish market or fetish outlet (several in Soho) these things must be too underground. Previously (30 years ago) my mode of dress ensured entry. Am a bit concerned my intended outfit (andro) will be outlandish enough to walk through. The club does say "men in leggings is not suitable attire for entry" or runs something like it. Doubtless I will have to ask prior to spending money on tickets. Mrs Freddy won't be a problem ... Especially with what is becoming her taste for coloured highlights in her hair....

The notion these new Tokologo boots look 'passable' is a fair assumption, but sadly, not borne out by experience. My 'usual' footwear of choice is another ALDO style - as in my avatar. Those are ever-so-slightly higher, and allow almost no foot movement at all. The consequence of wearing the (leather) style is that I look like I'm walking in a high heel and my hips have to rotate when I walk. ('Mincing' if a man, 'wiggling' if a woman.) I get noticed less in the leather shoe? Plastic used on less expensive (womens) shoes has a particular sheen to it, not usually seen on mens shoes. It's a shame I can't embed a video here of me walking in the Tokologo without third party involvement (You Tube) so I could demonstrate. I got quite cavalier by mid-evening, and even thought of giving 'the masses' something to stare at by wearing some tight leather look leggings and stiletto's. Then realised I might be a little too old for such an adventure. If only I were 30 years younger and enjoyed my post-mid-life-crisis confidence.... (Actually, I've yet to have mine. Wonder what the hold-up is?) I would have enjoyed the chance of a meet up at Stratford if one had been in the offing, but I had to invent a way to keep a rear fog light with broken mounting, in the right place to get my car though an MOT today. I spent the better part of yesterday afternoon under the back of my car, working what I would call 'a small miracle'. Took longer than expected, hence my late visit out by way of celebration the lamp was returned to its rightful location. My car got a nice shiny MOT today, so the time was well spent. It's been 4 years since I visited Westfield Stratford, and back during the pre-Olympic visit, I was aghast at how busy the place was. I was also surprised that Primark and John Lewis shared a location. I have doubts they share customers for example... As to shoes, "the world and his wife" have possibly made the same discovery I did not some 8 years ago: Ankle boots work with everything, including every shape of leg (unlike 'tall' or OTK boots). Might be a bit late for a wide range of high heels given we are in the 'Christmas do' weeks, and certainly Office is the shop to visit for those. Zara and ALDO have heels too, but Office offers the highest, and without platforms. Seems you found some entertainment, if not in the volume you anticipated. I hope you enjoyed your day out. No mention of a heel on your own feet, so I expect there was no 'mincing' on your part.

Had planned to go to the West End tonight, but left home late (surprise surprise) so went to Brent Cross instead. Wore my new ALDO ankle boots, which are proving to be the most uncomfortable shoe I own. The heel is not overly high, although high. The fit is good, but they are plastic. There is no give in the toebox, so walking in them produces some rubbing across the tops of both big toes. Full review another time. So, wore the ALDO boots. The toe shape and material marks them out visually, as being a girls shoe despite them mostly being covered by my jeans. I got spotted by a lot of people, especially those sitting. One woman, a non-European, almost broke her neck trying to validate the glimpse she got as I walked past her seated position. She looked a further 3 times, catching me looking at her every time before I decided to put my shoes out of her line of sight. I don't mind 'being spotted', in fact I expect it. But discretion is welcome. Unless you are being paid for it, who enjoys being stared at? (Have a look by all means, it's a story to tell your grandchildren: "I once saw a man in heels". But no need to be rude ...) To my surprise, I found shoes and boots in the sales at Fenwicks. We are now less than 2 weeks from Christmas, so I shouldn't be surprised, but I was. Fenwicks wasn't overly busy, so I tried on some knee boots from Dune while there. Fit was good, with a calf fitting as it should be, but still a little loose around the lower calf and ankle. Actually covered my knee cap. A bit later on while in John Lewis, and after some faffing about (waiting for a girl with size 3 or size 4 feet to finish trying on the same style), I took a size 8/41 of these off to another corner in the shoe section and tried them on. As with the Tommy style above, these fitted my foot, but baggy everywhere else up my leg. Although I wouldn't spend £108 on boots, if they fitted, at least I could 'aspire' to own a pair, but still no success in finding anything to cover my legs.

Another post (following the DIY one) that cuts across at least two other threads. (ALDO retailing and Ebay). These boots are currently included in the ALDO sale range >> ALDO Cornera OTK boots << at £69-98 down from £100. "Sold" a couple of days ago on Ebay, advertised as a "Generous size 9.5 (I'm a 10 and they fit fine)" they made good money: Looks like the seller has my calves .... Note the 'bagging' on the boots that I experienced (upper pictures). You don't often see shoes go for more than the original sticker price, but OTK boots seems to one of them.

It would seem the Tokologo style from ALDO has been removed from the 'sale' range and is back to full price. I wonder, could I return the ones bought over the weekend claiming: 'lost receipt' and get a credit note for the (current) full price .... doubling my investment? Sadly, not. I've noticed that with some brands, the loss of one or more sizes in a style, coincides with that style slipping into the sale category. At the time the Tokologo had joined the sale section, a UK8 wasn't available online. (Coincidence.) It was also part of a small range that had been discounted during the "Black Friday" week/fortnight. With the size 8 available again, maybe there's no reason for it to be part of the 'sales' line? The B/F promotion has ended too, so it could be that instead? Something slightly more enigmatic is the disappearance of a style called >> Capestick << from the UK ALDO website. This link is to the US ALDO site. A Google search still offers the same address as my bookmark, but it only produces an error page. I saw the shoe in store on Sunday too? I hope the style returns, as the shoe fits like a glove, but at £90 it was too expensive for my budget. I had been optimistic it might appear in a sale over the Cringlemas/New Year period.
