  1. If I could be sure you lost it 30 years ago, having seen the sample picture supplied, I'd be asking my sister-in-law who she had to make that outfit with it. She's much, much bigger now (head like a football) but thirty years ago, I really would be asking her about that picture.....
  2. As a reasonably young (impressionable) man, I remember -vividly- reading a magazine article about Vidal Sassoon's eldest daughter Catya. She was living the L.A. dream being wealthy, attractive and owning a family name that made her welcome in all the 'right' places. By the time of the article, she was 15, and already had a drug and alcohol addiction problem. He father was born into "dirt poor" circumstances, was homeless as a child and spent time in an orphanage, was evacuated from London during WWII... I can't imagine a more disparate start to their respective lives. He died at 84, she died at 33 (addiction related illness). Reading the article all those years ago, drew a conclusion in my mind that while having "everything" might seem attractive, in itself it produces problems poorer folk like me don't have to contend with. At the moment I am again reading about many 'celebrity children' being spotlighted, currently cherished by the sycophantic media who will be the same organisations, that will report every stumble and fall as these children fail later in life. It's quite sickening. You know that's not an usual comment I see written about her. "Looks better dressed than undressed". I quite liked the dress in the first picture though.
  3. Katie Price aka Jordan. She is a grafter, and someone who likes 'pretty' hunks. I am concerned about morals, especially when children are involved. Someone who seeks to be in the limelight as much as she does, ought to be showing themselves to be a good role model, or not be given media attention. There is enough evil in the world already, without encouraging it. She lives in a bubble, and quite likely doesn't understand nor care, how others will be tempted to follow her example. "Hey look at me. Act like a whore, and get rich!" Not the lesson children/young people should be taught, especially not her own children. She once published a picture of her (then circa) 10 year old dressed and made up as a sexually active adult. It may be she was 'made up' to be like "mum", but then publish the image? I flat out don't agree with making children look like adults in any situation - ever. It's just not a safe thing to do. More meds, and off to bed.
  4. Lady Victoria Hervey. Someone better known for being in a state of partial dress ... In the news recently for being part of a threesome with two other celebrities you probably don't know.
  5. Not only; "not quite a lady", but someone who has earned a great deal of money from the sex industry, one way or another. A symptom of our "media" society. I have no idea why such a seemingly immoral person becomes so wealthy, and gets regular air time on British TV.
  6. Not quite leggings .... Not quite a lady ....
  7. Took me over an hour to find this .... Not least because my first attempt at using the search function on "Jasmin" didn't seem to find this post. Anyway ..... Mindful of the "shiny leggings" thread (not skirts), Jasmin and her taste for heels and shiny skirts, I thought I might add this to keep folk aware she hasn't disappeared. She reminds us in her own way ... When I get around to doing the 2017 A/W shoe/fashion parade, you'll doubtless conclude PVC is VERY big this year. VERY big.
  8. I don't know the 'never' bit is true, especially in pre-revolution France. But overall I'm inclined to agree, especially since aristocrats showing off wealth through extravagant/opulent garb, is hardly mainstream. Would it be fair to suggest modern man, is basically too lazy? Or worn out by work, though modern women work just as long and hard as men of course. Shopping for clothes takes time, even with the benefit of the internet. Keeping legs clean of hair, nails coloured, hair cut/coloured, figure trim (for some) all takes time and effort I suspect most men can't be bothered with. Then there's the demands of make-up, and the two halves of the race become completely different. Yeah, looking at the potential Job List, I can see why the status quo remains....
  9. Artistic creativity, gave way to greed and the love of money. Not necessarily by the people who we know, but the producers and distributors of the creativity. The big movers: Steve Strange (promoter, producer, singer) Boy George, possibly Marilyn, all succumbed to drugs. Spandau Ballet were only ever in it for the fame. Duran Duran, middle class boys making some money and enjoying some limelight. Vivienne Westwood could have made a difference, but I suspect her interests were (eventually) with women, not with the emancipation of men. I haven't been an avid follower of her career, but most of it has had her as a member of the fashion establishment, not as the provocative outsider that had her (possibly) at her best. You are right about the absence of a Mark II, or a renaissance of New Romantics, or any impending return to androgynous Dandyism. The driver for this change might be money. The fashion/clothing industry is and has been missing a trick for some considerable time. Women, as a consumer, do more than the very minimum when it comes to spending money on clothing. I would suspect, women spend more than 3 time the amount men do on shoes. Probably 5 times more on skirts than trousers ... Probably 10 times more on dresses, than men do on suits .... Why? Could it be choice, and seasonal changes? This is almost completely absent for men. Were men drawn into the same fashion spending habits as women, surely any Western economy would surge by billions. But this could only be possible if styles were shared or crossed gender. All heel heights, shoe shapes for men too. The same with boots, trouser shapes, jacket shapes, with men free to wear whatever materials they wanted too. True androgyny. I don't expect to live long enough to see this, but what a dream! Time for my meds, then off for a lie down.
  10. A 'joke' proverb I use from time to time, when teasing someone who isn't keen on sharing; "What's yours is mine and what's mine is my own." This clearly summarises the female take on fashion too. I've left it too late to make any headway in changing that myself, but I have a hope that something that get gets written by one of us, stimulates the beginning of a change in attitude. Like John Benge, our prose could well be the seed to an already fertile mind set on making changes. Someone like Boy George perhaps (but who doesn't succumb to drugs), or another dandy group like the 1980's New Romantics.
  11. Winter is on the way ..... Almost dark enough to wear heels out anywhere at 7pm. A chill in the air that means it won't be long before a jacket or coat becomes compulsory. In a little more than 3 weeks, the British clocks change and we lose another hours light at the end of the day. While it suits me for heeling purposes, in every other aspect it's an inconvenience. As is the cold. On the upside, this is "my" time of year for shoe buying. Hopefully I'll be doing a small review of some interesting offerings in the pertinent section. While testing a (sound) moderated pair of heels last Sunday at Brent Cross, it was hard not to notice how busy the place was. I'm often there on a Sunday, and I would say there was almost a third more people there than I usually see. I suppose this could mean Christmas is on the way? I don't mind crowds. Plenty of background noise, and not enough space between people to look down at my footwear.
  12. I doubt anyone here has any experience of that sort of change. Closest anyone has come to that, is Heels, who got himself excommunicated by (I think) changing his email address without changing it here first (or something like it). He effectively re-joined with a similar username. Again, my recollection of this isn't perfect because it was some time ago ..... (And it happened to someone else, not me.) In another post on another thread, Tech mentions he is the only support for this site, and there is one other Administrator (who may only visit HHp.) He is busy elsewhere, as he owns several special interest BB sites where there is significantly more traffic. He has written that he tries to look over this site about once a week, though obviously, workload might often prevent this. Probably best, if you make a direct approach.
  13. Barbara Palvin, aged 23 years. (Looks about 14.) I'm liking those ankle boots. VERY HH4M. Lots of shiny.... Who is she? From Hungary, sge used to be a Victoria Secrets model. She has some history with photoshoots as a motorcyclist (passenger):
  14. I'll have a look tomorrow, and see if I can go a screen grab if that proves to be the case. I think the programme's producers are on to me. Fridays views of heels were through the heads of the audience ... These images cropped from screen shots like this: And one more typical of the show:
  15. Given her past, I suspect Darcy could wear 'ballet boots', and beat any heel height worn by anyone else. Sadly, I haven't seen any images of her wearing ridiculously high heels. Probably just as well, since she's just about the most perfect woman already. Seeing her in very high heels could push me over the edge, and into becoming a stalker.
  16. Zoe seems to have given up the super high heels .... She's not getting any younger....
  17. A single problem would be just that, a 'single' problem. But (as I said) if the same "plumber" had done work throughout the house over a period of time, there'd be no adjustment on price to be debated, I would walk. It's hard enough to avoid poor workmanship, which is often buried, but to ignore something in plain sight? I'm temped to say 'a complete refurb opportunity if bought at rock bottom prices' might be acceptable, but given what I have here.... Maybe not even then. I don't expect others to accept my view as certainly no woman would, but it's my take on what I would get involved in, and what I would not.
  18. Every year the BBC makes it harder for me to get screen shots, but I've managed a couple anyway. I'd love to see an image of Janette Manrara standing, while wearing the very high waisted leather pencil skirt and 5+ inch heels she has on while being interviewed - to get the full effect of her outfit .....
  19. Quite right too. Rust spots can harbour bacteria, apart from the aesthetic consideration. As I've already said, were I looking at buying a house with that grade of plumbing inside, I'd be straight out the door - without looking backward. Although were the lady of the house walking around in Louboutins, I might have to go back for a second viewing.
  20. Errrr, nope. In fact they were on my 'list' of items to add to the "Oddities" thread. That said .... I took receipt of some long boots the other day, very long - to the point of being called "crotch" boots in old parlance. As usual, the ankles and calves were loose, so the things would NOT stay up on my legs. At the time, I considered a suspender belt or girdle type affair to hold them up, and realised the practical benefit of this (ridiculous) design. I was some time ago, 'gifted' some boots, which sadly were waaay too big for me. They were a large UK9 or US11. They were sold on by me some 5 years ago. Brand was Ellie. The boots I tried recently, were returned the next day. A shame because they had the mandatory 5" heel, and were suitably long.
