  1. Four pairs of boots then .... 1st pair, ASOS PU textured patent. I wore them at the 2008 WHM. Since then they've been boxed. Recently, I've started wearing them for a part time job I do, where I'm usually alone. >> Piccy 1 << >> Piccy 2 << [These are the second pair in the video.] 2nd pair, the imported [from US] Harley Davidson 'after riding' boots. I wear these whenever I leave my home town [ie. when I'm not working]. I've even worn these to go shopping in a local store, and [though they don't know it] when I've met friends in a bar. When worn with long trousers, they just look like kinda 'spivvy' cowboy boots. >> Piccy 1 << >> Piccy 2 << 3rd pair, and probably the cheapest, Priceless PU boot. These are fairly high, but surprisingly comfortable. I really like wearing these, though being PU it's usually quite cool or wet outside when I use them. [My leather shoes don't go out in the wet.] I have sevral pairs of these. Possibly 4? >> Piccy 1 << >> Piccy 2 << [These are the first pair in the video.] 4th pair, and my favourite of the four. Faith slim block heel, possibly the ideal wear-all-day heel. These don't get out much, and are considered a 'special event' shoe. >> Piccy 1 << >> Piccy 2 << Think that's me done.
  2. Since a picture is worth a thousand words ..... >> << for a couple of thousand. Still pictures of my main 'shopping' boots to follow. [bit late tonight.] Hope it gets 'my style' across. ....
  3. While searching the BBC Glastonbury site, I stumbled across the [now] all girl band Warpaint. No heels I'm afraid, but really good music, and very talented musicians. >> Have a listen. << If you notice what seems like flat notes here and there, I think they're supposed to be there as they appear in all versions of the song.
  4. I very much like her dress sense, and her music doesn't make me want to leave the room, so I watched some of the recorded video of her performance at Glastonbury. Jesse has been touted as the UK's answer to Lady GaGa [yeah right.] She doubtless has talent, and as I've already mentioned, she knows how to make the most of her herself. In fact she recently picked up a Glamour award, so I'm not the only one who thinks so. For those who aren't aware, the festival is well known for two things: 1. Top entertainers, as wide a variety of class acts as you could wish to see. 2. Mud. Lots and lots of wet goo - everywhere. Watching one of the videos of her, I noticed a couple of things. She did her entire set [but for about 2 seconds] sitting down, due to a tendon injury caused during rehearsals. [Not clear for which gig, but it wasn't Glasto.] The other, that she appeared to be wearing high heeled wellies. Now given the mud, wellies [wellington boots] seemed quite appropriate, but heels? Searched the BBC website and her own site for images. Saw somewhere [Edit: found piccy >> here<< ] that she had help to get that boot on, and her walking shoe ~ ankle height Hunter welly ~ was left about 18 inches away from her feet. Conclusion? The high heeled boot was part of her performance costume, and bad leg or not, the good one was going to be wearing that heel. Here is a >> sample << vid from the gig. [You get a fleeting view of the back of the boot in this vid.] I had to watch all the video's on both sites to find the shot, but I finally got to >> look at the boots <<. Note the little 'walk on stage' welly to the left. And >> here << is a still from the video linked above, showing the heel from behind. Great boot! So, thinking she liked heels, I had a deeper look into her web site photo section. Found these: Jesse in heels 1 Jesse in heels 2 Jesse in heels 3 Jesse in heels 4 Jesse in heels 5 *Very nice* I think she likes heels? Edit: Links crossed. [Duh!] Edit: Found piccy of boot being 'fitted'. ....
  5. Thank you for those very complimentary remarks. For that half of the business partnership, I think you have it 'on the money'. The other half of the partnership, would not be anything like as embarrassed and would not let me hear the last of it. I'm a lot more careful now, not that I was particularly careless in the past. The day I left the boots behind I did leave with an armful of gear, just not everything I should have left with. ...
  6. I'm pleased to hear you're getting some use from them. It maybe they are a good inch higher than your normal (dog walking) height shoes, and perhaps this extra height will take some getting used to? The boots and your jeans make a good combination. Looking at them I wouldn't immediately know they were womens shoes, and as you rightly say, they are quiet so no indicator from a hard (hollow) heel either. When the nights draw in, I'm sure you'll be okay to take them and the dog for long walks .... ....
  7. .Some updates .... About 4 or 5 weeks ago, I inadvertently left my 'work boots' wrapped in a Next carrier bag, on the desk in the owners office where I had changed back into my usual street shoes. Twenty-five minutes after I'd left the building, realising what I'd done I returned to my work place and collected them. They had been moved to another location that I found without the need to ask. The chap who moved them, has seen that bag before. Once, when he would have found my 'usual' work [mens] shoes laying on top, with me somewhere else in the building. [On this occasion, 'hiding' in the toilets with high heels on. ] It wouldn't have taken the mind of Sherlock Homes to work out the heeled boots in the bag, were my 'alternate' works shoes .... In nearly 2 1/2 years, it's the first time anyone has had a chance to see what I have in the Next bag I'm often seen carrying out of the building. To date, no remark has been made. Also, no more unexpected visits. When he or his wife arrive [at times they are expected], they always shout to me they are in the building before we meet. I'd say they know, and are being considerate. I'm tempted to admit to him what I'm up to, but maybe I don't need to. Yesterday, while doing something [noisy] at the kitchen sink, I completely missed the colleague mentioned, walking into the building. First I knew she was there, she was practically standing next to me. Under any circumstances I would have been lightly 'shocked' at the sudden appearance when I thought I was alone. Worse still was me wearing high heeled patent boots that only days before I'd installed steel tips. Shiny patent drawing the eye, and steel tips drawing the ear. Fortunately the colleague 'knows', but I'd been keen to keep my heel wearing away from her as far as possible. No chance of that. We chatted while I finished off what I was doing, and had a coffee and a couple of biscuits when I finished up. As I had to leave, I changed into my shoes as she stood talking in front of me. [The mens shoes that had been laying on top of the usual Next bag, both placed on top of a larder fridge and in plain view.] She suddenly burst into a giggle, being surprised I'd been walking around in 4 1/2" stiletto heels in front of her for a good half hour, and she hadn't noticed! Bless her. ....
  8. I'm afraid my heel wearing is a lot more discreet, at least as much as I can manage. As a general remark, I tend to wear ankle-boots or shoe-boots [aka bootees in the US) under long jeans and a casual top. A close look at my footwear might reveal an usual toe style for a mens shoe, and my walk is slower with possibly more hip movement than usually seen in a man's walk. I've a small selection of stiletto heeled court shoes [high heeled pumps] that I keep promising myself I'm going to wear out, but life seems slow in offering me the opportunity. Put another way, a house move and a slowing sales, means my finances have taken something of a dive over the last 12/18 months. Less money means less ventures away from my home town to places where I needn't be so discreet. Last year I expected to go to a theatre show. Tickets are over £90 each. Food and travel takes that to well over £200+ for an evening out for myself and my wife. The justification for that sort of spend, was an evening wearing long "dress" trousers, collared 'designer' shirt, and 4 7/8" stiletto shoes.... With the UK economy slowing making customers reluctant to spend money, and fuel prices here going up almost every week, that expensive night out seems to be getting harder and harder to make happen. I've published links to the footwear I've bought and wear before, but finding them again [if they are still there] might take some time. I'll see if I can find time to take some quick photo's over the weekend, (or more likely early next week) to illustrate both my taste in heels, and what they look like when I'm wearing them. >> This << is a recent picture of me in 5" heels [that I don't walk in very well] mostly covered by my long jeans. You'll understand how the rest of my heel wardrobe, which is almost exclusively black in colour, would be hard to spot on me when I'm stood still. Of the four styles you've shown of your own wardrobe, the wedge heels would easily be my favourite. I'd like to wear longer boots myself, but with legs that look like they belong to a scrawny chicken, just about every boot I've tried looks like a pair of wellingtons on my legs. Do people notice your boots when you're out in them? Do they let you know they are looking? [Meaning they're not discreet about looking at your dressing style?] ...
  9. I think you have that about right. She's not the only one who did or does need more help from the people living off the money-spinner. Elvis being the most notable example..... My own personal gripe is with those who surrounded Karen Carpenter. How the heck could someone in the entertainment spotlight, someone loved by all her family, be 'allowed' to starve herself to death? Jeez, was she the only woman on the planet that didn't like the high calorie super-food that is chocolate? I'd have tied her to a chair and poured the stuff down her neck, or tossed her into a luke-warm pool filled with the stuff and made her stay there until she'd drank so much she could touch the bottom of the pool with her toes. ....
  10. Stumbled across one of our number, with quite a nice taste in footwear ..... And what looks to be a good walking style too. >> mrhiheelz << ...
  11. Seems the 'writing was on the wall': January 2011 In fact at most gigs reported on Y.T. through 2008/2009 ....... And people expect her sing when they've paid to get into her gigs? Seems the only performance likely is that from someone not fit to stand unaided. She needs to be kept away from the public, not paraded around like some 'freak' circus act. ....
  12. And there's me thinking you might be located in Germany with a name like Gustav ..... Do you get to do much public heeling in San Diego? Is it a safe place to? ...
  13. >> This << may keep you busy for a while. Might become my first subscription.
  14. I've never understood the music buying public's attraction to Miss Winehouse's songs or performances. 5 Grammy's in 2006 and 5 years later ..... 2011 "Comeback" tour >> cancelled << How drunk am I >> sample 1 << ? How drunk am I >> sample 2 << ? Pitiful. How does her Management and handlers get away with it? Tortured soul is bad enough, but when the money is there to resolve this ....... Does no-one care enough to stop the train ride to oblivion? ...... Edit: Spelling, and I still don't know if it's correct.
  15. You'll be lucky. The size 8's are already on "low" stock status, and they're leather. My experience of NL leather shoes is they are very resistant to discounting them. The PU shoes go on sale after 3 to 6 months, but the quality stuff ..... ? It's why I didn't hesitate with the suede wedge baseball boots marked down from £35 to £15. Gifthorse+mouth spring to mind. ....
  16. Hello Gustav, and welcome. Where are you in the World?
  17. Not in the same price range, but I thought these were more discreet? Or have I taken it too far in the discreet direction? And no size 9 either. [Duh!] .....
  18. I doubt I'll be going to the Bullring 'soon'. I'd almost decided to stay overnight, but thought the effort might be better spent somewhere closer to the coast. [ie Bournemouth or Brighton.] When I go, I'll probably go with Mrs Freddy..... She has 3 day weekends every 4 weeks, so time enough to get over 4 or 5 hours travelling in a car during one day, sandwiched around 6+ hours of shopping/browsing. [Though she's just expressed a severe lack of interest in the idea. She really does like Bluewater!] "Non-feminine shoe" ...... That'll be the block or Cuban heel shoe (or boot) then? Do let us know if you find something? ....
  19. Wellllll.......... I get my usual boots ready, and unboxed a brand new pair of ALDO heels. [Mentioned elsewhere.] Had decided I wasn't going to wear flats whatever happened. Got ready to go, then got put off by the monsoon rain that fell during the morning. Hammered it down around here for the two hours it took for me to get everything ready - including me .... But the thought of driving for at least 2 hours in heavy rain, with holdups for accidents and road works, just became so unattractive ... I didn't go. Spent the pm and evening doing plumbing work in the loft instead. [i know, really know how to live it up don't I? ] I am going though. Got maps printed up and everything. ....
  20. Hmmm. Odd it wasn't more widely publicised here in the UK, perhaps by the mainstream media? Though I suspect it's still more of an American gig? Wasn't there an event for the charity at Westfield last time? [That none of us went to! ] I'd happily pay £15 to spend an afternoon [slow mile] walking around Westfield. No indication why it was postponed, though arranging it for Fathers Day was about the 4th worst choice possible [after the 3 big Christian holidays]. .... .....
  21. You must be having warmer weather than us down here then. Central Heating popped on over the weekend, it was so cold.... I've noticed and had it confirmed by more than one woman, that since the heat makes our feet swell, 'shoes' (including boots) become less comfortable to wear? Strappy sandals it is then? For my part, it's to do with priorities at the moment. When I was younger and interested in some sort of career/paying bills, I had little time for anything other than work. To a degree I'm back there again, though now the priority is making this 4 bed house, safe and attractive to live in. Sounds simple, but it's hard going when you're as new to serious rebuilding as I am. Going to the Bullring in Birmingham tomorrow. Might even wear flats....... How dull? .....
  22. I've coveted >> these << in the Biblical sense for some time. They've a certain pleasant elegance about them. Not sure about the adornments, but they are a style I keep revisiting. They often retail at close to £300 and are (again) on sale in my size for just under £100. Amazon are doing a promo for a couple of days, so there's an additional 20% off right now. Makes them around £75. There's a single review, and it don't bode well about fit. I suppose I've nothing to lose in ordering them, except wasting Amazon time and money. But what if I like them? Even at a reasonable £75 .... I'll never wear them out, and I've yet to see a pair appear on Ebay. It's not like I don't have enough high heel footwear.....
  23. Birmingham's Bullring shopping Centre, either Tuesday, Weds or Thursday week? Anyone?
