Ahhhh. You two need to get a room! We went to see a movie today. The only time we could squeeze in a visit, was during the afternoon, and we had to rush to see that some 15 miles away. I didn't wear heels. Mrs Freddy had commented that we don't go out without me in heels. [i get out so infrequently, I prefer not to miss the chance.] I had taken her comment as a mild complaint. As I wore flat shoes today, I tried to get some 'Brownie points' for wearing flats. Pointing out the mens shoes on my feet while driving, I said I was wearing flats because she has commented on me wearing heels. I was then reminded; "I don't mind what you wear on your feet honey." You just can't win. ......

Should be fixed now? Excellent! I've bookmarked the page.

In fact less than a mile away ..... As tempting as it was to go watch the UK PR vehicle [showing the world what we have to offer to tourists], it was pouring with rain at the time, and I mean hammering down. Had I access to a pair of boots like Jessie J's (above) I'm sure I could have found the enthusiasm to go..... The weathermen today are unusually in full agreement across the board, with their predictions for the next three days ....... Rain. And finally, despite two of the driest winters on record that left UK reservoirs with record low water levels, the last two water companies that had not cancelled their hosepipe bans (we couldn't use hose pipes to water our grass), gave up their ban today. Reservoirs are full, ground water is high with soil everywhere at saturation level. The only thing that surprised anyone about this, is that it took those two companies so long to announce their decision. If there's one thing none of us here need to do anyway, it's water the grass. Had a report on the news that one town [could be Portland something or other] had around 97mm of rain in a 12 hour period. Their usual July rainfall for the month, around 33mm? So 3 months of rain in a day.... Much more of this, and I won't need high heel wellies, I'll need high heel flippers.

The weather is getting quite depressing. [Not clinically depressing, obviously.] It's rained quite heavily most of today. Large areas of the UK are experiencing floods. The Olympics will be appearing here fairly soon, I hope the competing teams bring canoe's and plenty of wet weather clothing. I think we are working our way to having a third "wettest xxx month" this year on record. Some towns having had more than a months rain in a day. This obviously impinges on what is, and what isn't practical by way travelling, and enjoying whatever you travelled for. I've a provisional meeting arranged next Sunday with one of the more active members here. Hopefully we'll see a dry day in London. [Fat chance.] More rain is forecast. The moving roof on Wimbledon centre court, will earn its keep this year.

I would have taken it (the original enquiry at Matalan) as an opportunity to chat, if time allowed. Not by me obviously. I'd still have been in 'ga ga ga ga' mode as I left.

I wouldn't have gotten past "ga ga ga ga" Wonder why she asked? [she wouldn't have asked if you bought a bra, would she? So maybe she DID have you sussed, and was rather cheekily looking for confirmation?] I think you are right though; "buy in store ..... Because you can...."

She's not a great fan. While she wants to stand out a bit, herself wearing high heels, flattering clothes, she is not keen to have competition with her heels. In fact I may have mentioned before, if I'm wearing heels, she is less likely to. There have have been times when we've both walked out in them. It has been amusing to us both, to hear a heel strike the floor and what seems like an echo of the first heel immediately afterward, or to hear heels landing in stereo? We tend to have the same length pace and walking speed when both wearing heels. While she has always known of my heeling interest, even been there when I bought a pair more than 12 years ago, she thought that my interest had all past. On balance, I think she would prefer it that way, but she is a realist. If I have a need/want to wear heels, is it wise to try and prevent me? She wants me to be happy (as I want her to be happy) so we have a compromise. I wear them where people who know us, won't see me in a heel. She will not get awkward questions, or unpleasant comments. I want to wear heels, and doing so means I have to travel to places where it's sensible to wear heels. Not out in the country. Not anywhere with uneven surfaces. Shopping Malls are an obvious place, and Mrs Freddy LOVES shopping, even if she doesn't spend any money. Journey's out to warm or attractive venues, with lunch or dinner in a restaurant. It's a compromise she enjoys. We are no longer young enough to visit nightclubs, sadly. We eat out, and if it's out of town, I'll likely be wearing heels of some sort. If we go to the cinema, which is something I enjoy, I'll be in heels. She certainly isn't 'anti', which I mention in case I overstate her reluctance. While we were out in London at the Exhibition on Sunday, she held my arm (quite close) as we walked to and from the venue. She was keen to walk up and down what is effectively the promenade next to the river, in front of many many people seated having dinner, or also walking out enjoying the last of a warm evening. If Ihad to use one word, I would say 'supportive' rather than enthusiastic. Which is fine by me. ...

I think there has to be an agreed/discussed method of measurement, before 'an angle' measurement can be made. It's maybe the reason I haven't embarked on working out the footlength/rise ratio to produce an angle across shoe sizes. Perhaps the time has come, to do some work on this?

I've corrected your otherwise perfect English, if that is okay, just to make the comment clearer. I'm not so sure "foolish" is the best word to describe the misplaced stress of the events. Naive maybe? Unnecessary perhaps? But all of these (including 'foolish') are only relevant after experience teaches us the level of our concern was unwarranted? Most people, (but not all people) are so wrapped up in their own worlds, they seldom have the inclination to notice another world around them. Experience has taught me. And like you, I've no interest in wearing feminine shoes because they are feminine, I like heels because I enjoy the experience of wearing a heel. I think a shoe with a higher heel looks attractive, and if there's one part of my body I'm happy to represent my inner personality, it's my feet and the footwear on them.

None that I'm aware of. While I haven't shown the front of the boots, they can easily be mistaken for a US cowboy style boot, despite the heel. If I had been wearing a higher thinner heel, I doubt I would have walked around so much. Although quite late in the day, it was still very bright out. In fact there was still light in the sky when we got home after 10.30pm. It's a shame about the camera. We did get some images, but the quality isn't good. [Mostly over-exposed.] If I can find one to use, I'll add it here.

That's going to be a great disappointment to you, of course. But I'm a little concerned you might perceive the active members here, as having the same attitude as some (but not all) of the active members of HHplace. I certainly have a thing for heels (both wearing and being worn by others), but it's not the driver of my life. There may have been short periods when it seemed that way to me, but experience tells me this was only because I had denied my interest in wearing heels. Were I out shopping for heels with you, my thinking wouldn't be; "It's a shame E can't try on two shoes." I would be thinking more along the lines of; "Jeez, that leg looks stunning in that heel!" Meaning: I wouldn't be pre-occupied with what you hadn't got, but I'd be enjoying what you had. Same is true of all of you really. I'm not looking for anyone's shortcomings, but looking to enjoy the pleasure and positive attitude a companion might bring? The way you write suggests you are one step ahead of us all, when it comes to being positive. As I said before, "what's not to like?" .....

I read this out aloud to Mrs Freddy. When I finished, we both laughed. Her immediate remark afterwards was, "You've got the T-shirt for that one too!" I could tell you stories ..... It's a pleasant relief to know the world works the same way for other people, and is one of the great benefits of the virtual world, like H4M. It lets you know that individuals, people who might think they are completely unique, have common ground with others. Surely no-one enjoys, feeling alone? ....

As I mentioned on the other thread, your dress style makes you in heels, seem completely natural/normal. Is the walking in public wearing high heels a new thing, (weeks maybe) or something you've been doing for a while (years)?

There's some great video's there sir! Not so sure about some of the music, but the video's were very professional and entertaining. The scenery ain't back either.

So...... Got the paint off my hands, cleaned up and out of the house for 5.15pm. The exhibition was on until 8pm, so there was time. Slightly tense drive through London, we arrived in what used to be Docklands around 6.30pm. I'd decided I wouldn't wear my 'everywhere' Harley boots, and really wanted to wear some higher heels. Since we were going to be walking around potentially cobbled streets I thought better of this, and went for another special pair. >> These. << One of my first purchases off the internet auction site, they are still only one of two pairs I can wear on my legs, without them looking like I'm wearing Wellington boots. I have very slim legs. It was possibly just as well, as we did walk on some fairly uneven road and pathway. We had parked about 150 yards away from the venue, which is situated on the waterfront. In fact it was at a place Mrs Freddy and I had visited some years ago, I now realise. We walked through the doors around 6.45pm. We paid £10 each to enter. Walking further into the building, a lift that takes you up to the viewing floors wasn't immediately visible, so we went up the stairway that was visible. The Exhibition was laid out so related styles were kept together. Long boots in one area, sandals in another. There were 6 or 7 of these islands or wall spaces where some background was given to say, every third or every fourth pair. Museum employees were very present, and with only about 10 visitors in the place at any one time, staff were sometimes more visible than visitors. There were 'Do Not Touch' notices everywhere, but it would have been nice to touch some of the exhibits to get a better understanding of what we were looking at. I understand this isn't practical. There was an area away from the shoe exhibits, that told the story with pictures of how Louboutin got his start in the fashion business, and how he continues to be a presence there. There was also a replica (or sorts) of his design room. There was also a partitioned space some of the 'Fetish' designs he had put forward for an event, maybe to do with David Lynch? [i can't be sure.] These were shoes not meant for walking or even wearing, but an exercise in sensory stimulation. There is also a short 'holographic' performance by Dita von Teese, maybe every 20 minutes, that lasts for about 5 minutes. Nothing vulgar or rude, but entertaining as long as you don't watch it twice. Lastly, there was a small viewing area showing some short videos of Louboutin and his shoes, in what I would know as 'skits'. As an example, one had him playing the role of Charlie, in a version of what might otherwise be Charlie's Angels. While seeing the man live on film as it were, had some benefit, the video's weren't very entertaining. Given Louboutins past [as reported in the Exhibition], I can understand why he may have wanted to get involved in a song and dance routine. We didn't rush, and some parts we looked at twice. We read everything on the walls, and most of the information with the shoes. We were ready to leave at 7.45pm. So we had taken a leisurely hour to do the whole thing. Before leaving we walked up another bunch of stairs, to the other Exhibition of Design Awards. As we were being advised over the tannoy system the place was closing, in minutes, we didn't see much on that floor. The view over the Thames was the most interesting bit if I'm honest. We found the lift (thankfully) and left. With several staff overseeing us all the time, it would have been a bit provocative to have taken out a camera to photograph the Exhibition, so we didn't try. The evening was quite pleasant, and we decided to have a walk along the river to the other side of Tower Bridge. We tried to take some photo's of the Olympic rings hanging from Tower Bridge, but we found my [fairly unused 4 year old digital camera] had stopped working properly! The wind picked up, and the air chilled quite quickly, so we had to return to our car for sweaters and jackets. By the time we'd gotten to the car, it was 9.15pm. We decided to go home, as the earliest we would get back would be 10.30pm if we left immediately. I would say the Exhibition was worth a visit if you were in London already, or had an interest in his styles. It was an excuse to get out, and to wear heels, so it was worth it to me. Mrs Freddy got an evening away from the building site, so she was reasonably happy too. ...

Almost didn't make it out again today. Finally got out of the house at 5,15pm. Pictures and full report, hopefully later today (Monday.) If not, Tuesday am. Not having much luck with camera's still. Now my compact, carry everywhere camera has gone belly up.

I think I've mentioned somewhere else, "high" would mean it affects the way you walk? A 2" heel is surely a higher heel than norm for men at least, but we are talking high heels? This likely to be a slightly different height for every shoe size as HH4evr1 points out. For me, high starts at 4", though I need a little more for it to feel truly high. [High = affects my comfort level in how I walk. Meaning: slight hip swaying needed.] For some considerable time actually, I've been meaning to find out the angle of rise in smaller shoes to compare it to the angle of rise in a larger shoe. The reason for this originally, was to make direct comparison between the heel height in a UK6 Mrs Freddy might wear, and the heel height in a UK8 I might wear. My expectation being, a 4" heel on Mrs Freddy, produces the same angle of rise a 4½" heel might produce in my UK8? Taking this as a scale, it may be someone with an EU36/UK3½ wearing a 4" heel, equates to a 5" heel in a UK8 to experience the same walking 'challenge' shall we call it? And someone with an EU44, would need a 6" heel for the same experience? It might be I've exaggerated the difference, and I hope this is true. ......

Or ......... There was no elephant? I personally believe [rightly/wrongly] some cultures are not that concerned about gender identity, or rigid conformity to highly defined criteria. Some other cultures, are VERY highly concerned and won't tolerate any non-conformity. As a general remark, I think most folk can get used to most situations. It's what makes us the most successful animal on the planet, our adaptability.

I think I'd enjoy accompanying you to empty the trash can. As I may have mentioned before: I try to be a 'person' first, and a high heeler second. I'd be interested in talking to you, because you seem like someone who would keep me entertained, just by talking. [About anything.] You've a great outlook, and one I'd like to hear more about. You've an interest in heels because you're a woman, who I think, enjoys her femininity. [Over here, we might call you a girlie/girl.] This is a terribly attractive attribute to me.... Your adventures suggest that despite being a girlie/girl, you don't need a man to run your life, you're able to steer your own course. Again, this is a very attractive attribute. Or maybe I won't..... The painting schedule got the better of me today too. [Must paint faster then?] There is a Louboutin Exhibition on at the Design Museum at the moment, with a week left to run. I nearly went for the evening session, which ended at 9.45pm tonight. When looking to buy tickets on-line, indications were, that last entry was at 5.15pm. I now think this was a remark relating to the afternoon session that ended at 5.45pm, but buying a ticket meant agreeing to this condition, which I couldn't. The exhibition is open on Sunday too ..... Who knows. You Tube trailers.
