  1. It happens a lot, thankfully abductions are much rarer than many of us fear them to be. As a parent of 4 daughters it's always been a worry when they are young and get out of sight for a moment but they were always taught what to do if they became separated, i.e. go to the tills and only speak to somebody there. It happened only once, and only a little panic before we found our daughter at the tills with a store worker about to put the call out.

  2. Or maybe it was the "elephant in the room" i.e. everyone noticed but nobody wants to be the one to bring it up. It's a case of who would feel more uncomfortable then, the one who brings it up (everyone else may already be in on it before they were) or it may make someone else (i.e. you and your wife) feel uncomfortable and you don't want to do that either.

Maybe they really didn't notice as you wear the heels so naturally and don't draw attention to the fact.

  3. Yesterday was the first time I wore the new jeans out, sorry to say with mens boots. Mrs Shyguy still liked the look, I still liked the feel and fit. We had to pick up our teenage daughter and when we got out of the car she had a long look at the boots and jeans and amazingly complimented the look. She had suggested womens jeans in Matalan when I was trying on mens jeans which didn't hang nicely, but didn't make the connection last night and accepted that they were mens jeans from a catalogue as my wife told her they were. So it seems as I always maintained, jeans are jeans whichever side of the shop they come from. Although I have to admit the zip is a little short for male toilet habits, and the pockets are way too small. And I have to train myself about the button and zip being on the wrong side....

  4. When you consider the original stated reason for the invention of heels was to help keep mens feet in the stirrup while on horseback it makes sense that they should hold onto the footpegs better than flats ;) I'm also looking how your foot ends up probably further below the gear lever for moving it upwards, but conversely on the brake your foot will end up too low and make stopping difficult = dangerous. Lower heels however may work better.

    Liking the boots though :D

  5. Was woken very early this morning, so as it wasn't raining I decided to walk the dog. After considering it I also decided the time was right to wear the boots donated by FastFreddy2 See here. I took them out of the wardrobe and put them on downstairs and got the dog ready to go. A little apprehensive about maybe being seen I hesitated at the door and checked the look, jeans covering heels so I was good to go.

As soon as I had walked a while I started to feel pain in the back of my calves probably from being a little stiff in my gait with the apprehension of wearing heels higher than normal. They were silent on the paths though, and I relaxed a little as nobody was around. I found again that the steep arch in these boots start to make the bottom of my foot ache very quickly, I have heels of similar height (which I admittedly haven't worn outside) which don't seem to have the same shape for the arch of the foot. The extra height and maybe soft heel and sole seemed to do wonders for my back though, probably a big change in posture helped there.

Because of the foot discomfort I made it a short walk in these boots, went home and changed to another pair to bring the heel height down a bit and then walked my usual route.

    The heels Freddy kindly supplied

I will be trying the Freddy boots again and try to build the distance up.

  6. An interesting development today regarding jeans..

I posted before in this very thread:-

Originally BHS ladies jeans, now mine. I got those and wore them when she had a clearout and even Mrs Shyguy commented how good they look on me, but I can't try any other womens jeansever again sad.gif

Recently I have been looking for some new jeans but all the mens jeans are very wide legged (probably because of my very wide waistline) and don't hang well. Mrs Shyguy has just bought some jeans from Tesco, and some from Marks and Spencer and I asked to try them on for fit a few weeks ago, and they did fit better than the mens jeans according to both of us.

Fast forward to todays shopping trip and once again I'm told I must get new jeans, and in Matalan was told to go try some on, again mens jeans all very unflattering. My daughter remarked I should try some from the ladies section, and when she wandered off my wife took me round there to check them out. I came home with some ladies jeans (size 18) and tried them on. Mrs Shyguy likes the look and they are very comfortable so I am going to be wearing womens jeans and wifey has agreed they are just jeans whichever side of the shop they come from.

  7. On the same subject of sandals, if anyone sees any fairly masculine sandals let me know. I have tried the last few years to get sandals for summer and always end up drawing a blank (mens are so uncomfortable, womens are always so much easier to wear) but they need to not look too girly.

  8. Nice looking sandals Ludovic. I also have a similar deal with my wife, we have one pair of (usually ladies) sandals by our back door to walk outside in, previously I have worn her sandals with heels similar to those you posted. At the moment the sandals are cheap EVA ones but very comfortable but low heeled.

As Freddy says it's a step in the right direction if you can get a foot in the door (or heels in this case) on your way to heeling more openly. Softly softly catchee monkey and all that stuff :)

  9. As this is along the same lines I'm adding it here...

Since the new updates appeared I have only just logged in. Horrifed to see my face blasted all over the site as it had integrated with the Google Gravatar and automatically added it. I knew what to do to change it quickly, but others may not and might be put off if like me they want this part of our lives to be kept from public scrutiny. Can you stop the site automatically picking up the Gravatar for new / other members?

  10. Just added some images to the gallery which were taken with the new phone at Bicester outlet village. Hopefully there is enough detail to see some heels in the shoe shops there :)

Bear in mind I was with all my family and didn't really want to answer questions as to why all the shoe pictures so they were taken quickly when I could sneak away for a moment ;)

  11. Once again it's been a while since I wore heels, once again I took the opportunity to wear them to walk the dog this morning. I woke up quite early and made the decision to walk the dog, then I had the choice of footwear to consider. I was close to wearing the wedge heeled boots given to me by FastFreddy (discussed elsewhere on this forum), but in the end went for my 2 inch wedges, and that turned out to be a good thing.

With the ground fairly wet I went for a longish walk around the local area which ends up walking along a sloped bit of field which hadn't been cut. At first I thought how it would have gone through the alternative boots I hadn't worn and congratulated myself on a good decision, until what I thought was just a overlay made to look like big stitches turned out to be real stitches and let in water from the overgrown grass.

I still think the lower heels were a good decision overall as I was walking along the edge of the slope and higher heels would have been more precarious especially with the slippery slopes and uneven ground. What me wimping out? :P Anyway we had a 40 minute walk which the dog enjoyed, and I was happy with as I'd worn heels to do it... :D
