Certainly classics!

I discovered the first time I wore my stiletto knee boots with the 120mm heels (and Italian Heels scales up the heel heights in propportion to size, so they are rather more than 120mm) that wearing them was an incredibly good workout for my calf muscles!  I had no trouble balancing or walking, but my calves certainly felt the difference. It was a better workout than any amount of cycling up hills. I reckoned that wearing stilettos for an hour a day would be great training for cycling even if one wasn't into heels!  

I’d be surprised if their size 10 would accommodate a typical size 12.

my mother, who would be nearly 100 now, wore a 10.5 and had a hard time finding shoes in her day. Truly, one would think that with a much greater population, and considerably taller in average, that sizes up to 12 would be more common.

When I grew up in the US during the 70s and needed a size US13 or 14 trainer, they were hard to find . Very easy now. You would think they’d have done the same with women’s sizes. 

My favourite pair would be my black suede otk stiletto boots. The are beautifully made, with this rich suede and fit me perfectly - not just on the foot but ankles and calves and lower thigh as well.

It really is surprising that more shoe manufacturers don't offer larger sizes. Generations are getting taller and with commensurately larger feet, but the shoe/boot makers are still living back in thew 1950s as far as sizings go. 

Actually no, it was on my birthday a couple of years ago, on a hot August afternoon. Not exactly boot weather and at any rate It was also a surprise - my wife took me to see it.   Kinky Boots would certainly have been a great show to wear boots to, though! 

Yes, “Steed” more or less speaks rather than sings in that recording. 

The stage show musical Kinky Boots is considerably better than the movie and the song, written by Cindy Lauper, are clever and fun. The whole show is, really. Or was, I think it has ended, at least in London. 

Apparently it did a lot for boot sales at the time.

How about Nancy Sinatra’s these Boots. Are Msde For Walkin’? No specific mention is made of heels In the song, but listening to it, who can doubt it?

Ive never danced in heels - I’m not much of a dancer to put it mildly but if I did, I suspect I could get away with it in my Cuban heeled ankle boots.

Years of cycling, and before that, sabre fencing, have given me good balance and very strong flexible ankles. I’ve never had any trouble at all wearing four inch heels of any sort.

Yes, my slouchy boots are all otk boots. I've seen some slouchy ankle boots that looked all right, but in the main, they ought to have cleaner perkier lines.

I am looking forward to the cooler weather. I like my tall boots, jeans and jumper look at "the office".

I've a couple pair of boots that slouch around the ankles - I kind of like it and yet sometimes I wonder if they are too baggy. I generally wear skinny jeans so I can wear my boots over them.

THe fact that it really has become a norm for work is very satisfying. While it arguably makes wearing heels less 'special' in one sense, the casualness of wearing heels every day to the 'office' - whether it's cuban-heeled ankle boots or stiletto knee boots - is realy quite satisfying. I'm genuinely wearing heels and boots. I wish I had done this many years ago, but am glad to have done it now.     

I rather enjoy the routine wearing of heels, the fact that it is just a part of my typical workday; my office dress code. In winter, when its cooler, I quite like my heavy suede otk boots as they keep my lehs nice and warm. Boots, jeans and a jumper - my standard office attire.

I do wish I had more regular pay, though... That part is not so much fun...  

One of the advantages of working as a freelance is that I am my own boss and can set the tone and dress code in my office. 

I have to cling to these advantages as the disadvantages to self employment in this new Covid-era are too many to list, let alone to want to dwell on.

Today I've already spent ten hours either shooting or editing photos...  

I simply enjoy wearing heels to work - work being what I do at home. On real life assignments (at least the ones I tend to get) they would be horribly inappropriate. I'm often at archaeology sites, or on the decks of pitching ships, or in muddy jungles (great for my vintage motorcycle boots though!)  No place to be wraring heels!

At home, though, when I'm writing and editing photos I very much like to wear heels. I tend to feel more creative, expressive in heels, less inhibited and more inclined to be creatively adventurous.  THere's a wonderful edginesss to wearing heels, a cocking a snook at convention and disgregarding old taboos. It's an edginess that is important in creativity. 

My pair of brown suede otk boots have lace-up styling on the side, but are in fact pull-on boots and rather slouchy around the ankles. I like them a lot. They are low heeled and very easy to wear without attracting notice.

Close fitting lace up otk boots besides being a bit racy would be quite a hassle to take on and off I should think.

Yes, that makes good sense. I do quite like the slouch in my brown suede otk boots especially.

Im also thinking for travel, a zip boot is easier to remove for security. Standing in the queue and trying to remove a snug fitting pull on boot is no fun. 

I’ve several pair of knee and otk boots. One pair, some vintage motorcycle boots from WWI are lace-ups but my others are mainly pull-on with the exception of a pair of black suede otk boots which have a side zip. I like the form fitting style of the zipped boots, but the slight slouch of the pull-ons seems more masculine. I can never quite make up my mind...

Which style would be your preference

I accept the pointed toe of the Tina boot because I really like the boot as a whole. I’d still prefer an almond toe if it were possible. They don’t make them that way so I just have to accept them as they are, and I do like the classic styling overall of the boot.

I am not a fan of the totally rounded toe either, although one of my knee boots has that. I accept it because that particular style is an exact copy of a WWI motorcycle couriers boot. That was just the way they made then and the boot itself is great and saw much use in South America during the rainy season earlier this year.

Otherwise it is almond toes for me. 

It's worth it in the long run. The boots I have now I'll have for many, many years - they are the kind you re-sole and just keep using. The initial cost is high, but over time they are excellent value and you have the pleasure of having and wearing something really nice. 

Yes, very tempting although at the moment I'm saving my pennies for a pair of gorgeous custom knee boots with block heels. Ones to last a lifetime. 

I like both of those. Yes, a shame they’re faux suede, but the styling is nice

That’s a good point. I like my Italian Heel “Tina” knee boots which have a pointed toe and thin stiletto heel. The do work well in tandem. I’ve a lovely pair of black suede otk boots with a rather thicker stiletto heel that have a more almond toe shape and that works really well.
