Members Stories :- What Got You Started Wearing Heels?
FastFreddy2 replied to shyguy's topic in Heelbucks chit chat Cafe
You have that right. Last year, I noticed an unusually large amount of 'slipper' type flat shoes. The wet weather probably prevented them being overly popular. This year the fashion industry looks to be pushing even harder! Shoe stores are awash with them. Who can blame them? The margins must be enormous. Saw a pair recently, marked down to £45. -
Another 'air-head', but one that's been around a bit longer ....... Loubies with classic style ....... Loubies, and possibly, classic night out ......
-
I think the short answer is; the general lack of enthusiasm for confrontation. That, and the lack of support for 'sensible attitudes' from the Police/Establishment. How often do you read about the victims of crime being arrested, because they fought back?

Another one in a very similar style (from the library) .... And something from the star wars designers? -
Sadly, as lovely looking as Ms Flanagan is, she seems to be a complete air-head. I'm sure I have a picture of her here somewhere in thigh length leather boots...... From here >> Clicky << Think I might even have mentioned her poor choice of 'support' (or apparent lack of it) elsewhere....

Apparently, toward the end of next month. Maybe. And when it does come, we'll be reading about people getting cooked, getting too much Sun too quickly. -

Yes. I would see both feet with little wings on each side of both heels as being attractive, maybe. Anything else is a distraction, and usually just looks a mess. -

Not sure about plenty, but if I can find them in supermarkets, a large mall like Westfield ought to be easier. That said, I've nearly always got some feminine camouflage to run 'interference' (distraction). Could be embarrassing ..... -
Yep, I want one.

Hopefully we'll be meeting soon. Perhaps I can demonstrate my technique? It's not perfect, but it does work - usually. Given how often you have been out and about recently (this week) I had imagined you would have seen loads of heels about, though I suppose many girls/women will have been in snow shoes this week? -
You have that right! Perfect.

She is very easy on the eye ...... Loving the courts in pic 2 and pic 3. Very attractive.

Or with only 3 minute walk, maybe even a day off? -
I hope the drink didn't get you wobbly on those heels.

I hadn't thought you'd be taking pictures while you were actually working/working .... But you need to get to your place of work? And leave it? And experience suggests the owner of your role is usually the last person to arrive? I would imagine you have to walk past many, many interesting sights. My Nokia 2370 is a piece of pooh compared to your state-of-the-art all-singing-all-dancing phone. A number of times (if not most of them), I would wave/tilt my phone in the general direction, and hope I got lucky with the composition. Later, I would download it and rotate/edit it, and get to something that might look like the image I had intended to take. My motto with this has always been, a poor image, a poor composition, is better than nothing. I've done my share of deletions through lack of quality, but for the most part I have an increasingly wide library of images that will shock and amaze me in 10 or 15 years. [Assuming I get that old obviously.] If that App has a timer, or multiple image option, set the timer to 3 seconds and 3 images. Press "go" and casually tilt you phone at your subject. The ONLY thing you have to do, is hold the thing still when the image is recorded. Jobs a good 'un. -
I'm surprised at Evans. I've heard many men mention they bought their first or only heels from them? [Larger/wider sizes, obviously.] Sexual discrimination is illegal in this country, perhaps their head office needs a reminder? Conversely, I'm not surprised with HoF, especially the White City branch. I took two pairs back after the usual 28 day allowance for returns. To achieve that, I needed to speak to a Departmental Manager on the phone, and I also saw him when I went back to the store. They were womens shoes, and it was always the case they had been purchased for my use. The Manager (literally) couldn't have been more helpful, and I've had similar good service from the same departments in something like 5 or 6 other stores. You did well a Barratts. Doesn't at all sound like she took a shine to you.

I haven't bought-and-kept from Banana Shoes, but I did try to buy 2 pairs that turned out to not fit very well. [They were court shoes I couldn't keep on my feet.] Banana Shoes were happy to exchange or refund, no bother at all. Their overall service level was excellent, and I would recommend them. Because they provide such an exemplary service, it has to be paid for. [it's not a business badly run on no budget. It's a professional outfit, and they keep going by making a profit, and quite right they do.] Several other businesses trying to make headway by selling almost at cost, have floundered and expired. Makes any warranty or product support worthless. NEXT is a good choice. AFAIK they still have a reputation for good quality, unlike M+S. They have a larger range on-line, though I haven't always found it the easiest to navigate. I had thought New Look were expanding their size range too, though I might be mistaken. Taller, heavier young girls have larger feet, so I'm really surprised a high street retailer hasn't gone after that market. Why wouldn't you? It's not like it's an over-crowded segment. And if anyone believed there was little call for a UK9, try buying one in an attractive style that was available in a UK9 ..... Topshop advertise a UK9, but these usually come up very small, and I believe they are actually a UK 8. Not sure if ASOS are worth a look? Their sizing is a bit hit-and-miss anyway, but sometimes they'll err on the large size which could be a pleasant surprise. Happy hunting.

During my early public/daytime heeling days, my favourite venue was Lakeside in Thurrock. i remember, either the 3rd or 4th visit with Mrs Freddy. It was warm and sunny outside (though turned out to be chilly in the wind), so we had a coffee upstairs in I think at Starbucks, as they had a veranda. [That we stayed on for 5 minutes!] Walking in and out, meant walking past two young kids (boys) one either side of the aisle. As I walked toward them, conversation stopped. Thinking we would be outside for a while, I forgot about them. When I went back, (sooner than expected), same thing, only this time, whispering as I passed. It wasn't a bother. I didn't lose any sleep over it, they were children doing what children -luckily- do. See and hear everything. I don't go to Lakeside during school holidays now, and try not to be there in the evening. Bluewater is harder to get to, and there's less there for unaccompanied youths too, so I enjoy the place more than anywhere else. Food choice is better too. Since then I've notice little people up to about 10 years, have ears waaaay too close to the ground, and eyesight quality close to that of a buzzard. I tend to cross the road to avoid them, when I'm in heels.

I get the problems, and I think we've talked about it F-2-F too, and I would not want to incite you to get fired. But you will not be 'on the job' for every second you are in a public place surely? And you have a phone I know you can take a good photo with, without announcing the picture is being taken. The extra ingredient of course, as I mentioned before, is that I'm a bit more wilful than most upstanding citizens. It's perfectly lawful to take photographs of anyone in public places. Permission is needed on private premises, of course. Phones allow for surreptitious images to be recorded, and I know these are taken far more often than folk realise. I'm pretty sure I got recorded by a chap in a London store just before Christmas 2012. I was in a queue (for Mrs Freddy) when I spotted a fella with two phones, or one phone and one camera. [been there, done that.] The second of the bits of kit was plainly pointing at me, in just the way I do my pointing. Most would not of noticed, but I'm on the look out for people looking, and I know what I would look like if I was photographing me. If conformation were needed, I circled around him, to watch. He watched me doing the out-flanking, and left. He had been standing in a walkway, talking to no-one, waiting for no-one. He just turned on his heel and suddenly left. Anyone reading this will be thinking 'you can't be sure', and you are right, I can't be. I can't be and I was watching for it, and I know what to look for, what to expect. And I can't be sure. So, taking photo's with a phone, while pretending to read a text ..... How could anyone know? -
I was going to suggest the www.bigshoeboutique.co.uk which is a store for the larger sized foot, but their selection is as bad as their parent company, Barratts. Several companies in the US will make the sort of shoe you are after in US11 and US12. The on-line auction site might also have some imported by a reseller in bulk, for sale in the UK? I have seen them, but they move quickly. Hopefully, I have that job.

I got quite 'cocky' at a local supermarket. Decided these cowboy style boots I had (New Look with 4" heel) were a go anywhere boot despite the overly rounded (girlie) toe. Walked in, walked out, no bother. While I was in, I had to wait for a short while next to a pharmacy counter. A father, busy at the counter didn't notice his 6 year old daughter staring at my shoes, then at me, at shoes at me at shoes at me .... I would have been considerably less bothered if she hadn't noticed, and he did .... I dread to think of the conversation they had on the way home. Moral: Little people always look down, and have good functioning ears at least 3 foot closer to your shoes than most other adults. Bless them!

There is NO WAY you'd get away with 4 inch courts bud. Just no way. So go in them. Hold your phone to your ear while videoing the looks you get when you pass other shoppers. Seriously ..... 3" block heel boots in black.
