  1. I always got on well with Harley Riders!

I think there is a shared appreciation of the freedom of the open road.

Alas heeled boots don't look nearly as cool on a bicycle as they do on a Harley!

America is a great place for road trips and I can imagine there would be no better way to see the country than the way you're doing it

For those of you that are a little afraid , embarrassed,  or just not confident enough to wear heels in public yet, This is what I have discovered through years of experience.

#1, When wearing heels in public, just be you. Don't worry about what anyone else say's or thinks. Don't turn around to see if you are being noticed. Walk with 100% self esteem. Most people don't even notice and if you walk with confidence as if its your everyday lifestyle, most people won't even care and the ones that do, have their own low self esteem and issues anyway.

#2 Its like everything else that people see for the 1st time WOW!, But the second and 3rd time the WOW goes away and it becomes "NORMAL" when they see it again.

#3 Just something to think about. I own my own in house business with a few employees, Sewing and custom embroidery. The 1st thing I do when I hire a new girl is tell her why all the high heel paraphernalia , little posters, pics, shoe ornaments etc. is hanging around the shop. That's starts the discussion. So far I have had 100% good feedback and actually asked , why aren't I wearing my heels today. Customers don't even notice  mush and they really don't care after all, That's not what they are here for. They love my work and could care less about what's on my feet.

So to sum it all up, Most people do not care if you wear heels or not and the ones that have a problem with it, Remember, its their problem, not yours. Because if you can't be you, than who can you be?

    Hope this helps a little.

Great post! I work from home when I'm not travelling on assignment- I am a writer and photographer and until the pandemic spent a lot of time on the road. For most of my assignments heels simply woudn't be appropriate - jungles, deserts etc - although since I like knee boots, I have qute a collection of low-heeled knee boots that are appropriate for these conditions and wear them. At home though, I can - and do - wear heels.

Good question. My GF is very supportive and if were up to her, I'd be wearing heels all day everywhere we go. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones. She say's its a real turn on for her when I wear heels and loves shoe shopping with me.

THat's wonderful. My wife is tolerant - but rather dismissive too.

T-straps I wore on many occasions on my Harley cross country. Overknee boots were a very big hit every time we stopped. Yes I always ride in heels. Ankle boots are my jessica Simpsons which I have had for a few years and wear on a daily basis. Knee high boots are farirley new from DSW. Very comftorable and wear also on a daily basis. GF not only supports it but encourages it. She loves me in heels. Never be affraid to be you! FYI There are a lot more. I have a real problem lol but love it! Next question? :)

I like the boots very much - we've similar tastes. I just bought a pair of lovely custom-made OTK boots with block heels and an ankle zup. THe lreather is buttery oft and, being custom-made the fit is perfect - not on;y inthe footbed but along the calves as well. THye're my new favourites.

  5. Well, all one has to do is look at the excess deaths figures - deaths, over and above those of a normal year. These are substantial - indeed considerably more than the figures quoted for Covid deaths. There is no question that things are not going well at present. Something is causing all these excess deaths. What do you suppose it might be?

  6. A person dying of cancer can quite readily die of Covid before the cancer claims them. Without knowing specific cases, and seeing a coroners report, and having medial knowledge oneself tio be able to interpret what has been said, it is impossible to speak to spefic cases. True, there may well be people dying with Covid rather than of it who are included in the statistics, but that would be offset by, for example, heart attack victims who are and were utterly Covid free but who died because of overstressed medical facilities. I'm sure there are mkore than a few of those as the excess deaths statistic would imply.

  7. Even if one already is terminally ill, if one dies of Covid, or if covid is a contributing factor, then it would properly be included in the Covid statistics.

Same is if you were dying of cancer, with only hours to live, and someone shoots you. It still counts as a homicide and the death is recorded in the crime statistics.

Hello, all. Just checking in. I kind of let this site go for awhile, because it had become quite the ghost town. Looks like it's still kinda quiet in here.........

Yes, it is. It had a brief bit of buzz last September but that swiftly died away. A pity. This could be a good forum...

  9. On the other hand I have some very tough twenty year old Scarpa mountaineering boots in suede that have seen use all over the world. It depends on the suede and whatever protective treatment you give it.

  10. A rather odd sole on those boots.

Ive got ankle boots with 3.5” heels and while I am aware of the heel, they also feel rather matter-of-fact to wear. I quite like that though. One can quickly lose any feelings of self consciousness and simply wear high heeled ankle boots as regular footwear - and to me that’s nice

  11. If they’re not ticking the right boxes then I’d send them back - almost is not good enough when you could save the money and spend it on something that is good enough. I do like the sound of the Recite boots - a four inch heel and a round toe is right up my street!

Those boots sound interesting.   Can you tell usd more about them, please - size, style and source?   I have not found it easy to source a wearable boot with a heel higher than 3" that is properly-sized for a UK11-12 foot, at least not at an affordable price.

Ah, yes - well these are from Shoes of Prey, a company now sadly no longer in business. They had quite a novel set up where you could customise your order - toe shape, colour (wide range!), leather or suede, heel shape etc and they had a wide range of styles. They were not cheap, but for what you got and the fact that you could customise your shoes or boots to your taste, it was worth it They had a generous returns policy too. And they ran to large sizes - genuine UK12 in anything they offered. And they were plesant to deal with.

They were probably just a bit too generous in everything and commercial realities jumped up and bit them. They are no more. I am very glad to have two pair of their ankle boots.
