Hmmm. What happened here? Everyone lose interest?

Fair enough. Can't really argue with that.

As an American, all I can say is, the damage done by the Trump administration may NEVER be repaired. His almost cult-ish followers are a frightening bunch. And he STILL has many supporters in Congress. Hopefully the Biden administration will actually be able to get things done in the next 4 years.

Hello, all. Just checking in. I kind of let this site go for awhile, because it had become quite the ghost town. Looks like it's still kinda quiet in here.........
-
Well, they're here. They're a little snug, fit-wise, but not uncomfortably so. I will post pics as soon as I figure out how to make the files fit. I can't get the site to accept my photos at the moment.
-
I'm very curious to see how they turn out. I have had good and not-so-good experiences with Chinese-made boots. Sometimes the quality is great, sometimes it's............ lacking.

I have what is considered an "essential" job, so I'm still going in to work. I live alone, so the whole "isolation" thing is just life as usual for me. We've been taking the necessary precautions at work for weeks and everyone has remained healthy so far.

Since I started this thread, I guess I'll speak up. It DOES seem that there are only 3 or 4 of us paying attention here at this site. Admittedly, I still check daily. Not really sure why this place has turned into a ghost town.......

You can specify the leather, colour, height - right down to the centimetre. I would much rather have a single pair of lovely boots that will last a lifetime and fit perfectly than a dozen indifferent pairs. They are well worth a look.
I've known about this company for a while. I will definitely give them a try in the near future.

This company has been on my radar for a few years now. They will probably be my fist "custom" order. Sometime soon, I might add.

It might have meant buying new boots, in larger, wider sizes - an expensive hassle - but you’d have had to buy new footwear anyway. Thankfully you appear to have dodge that bullet.
I actually have been considering going the "made to measure" route with new boots. There are few shops out there who do it. It costs a little more, but it seems worth it to have boots that fit comfortably.

Sane - are you sure??
HHP appears to have lost a number of stalwarts who seemingly fell foul of 'management'. But there are also a number of extremists whose activity perhaps puts others off as it is often difficult to identify comfortably with what they say and (allegedly) do.

Fortunately, my feet weren't so swollen that they couldn't fit in my ordinary or "casual" shoes. I just had to adjust the laces a bit. All of my boots were tight-fitting to begin with, so there was no margin for error.

I have contributed in the past but the seemingly minimal feedback (good, bad or indifferent) to my latter efforts did not encourage further significant investment of my time. That, however, should not be seen as a valid deterrent to others with a story to tell or an observation or adventure to report ...
OVER TO YOU!
Okay. I'll go first. Just recently had a health issue/scare that caused some swelling in my feet and legs. As a result, I couldn't get my any of my heeled boots on, even without socks. The health issue was addressed, and with medication, the swelling has gone down considerably. But not guite enough for the boots to fit properly. It's looking like the swelling will be completely gone soon. But the whole situation has me humbled. It did make me seriously consider giving up my boots obsession for good.

It looks that way. Unfortunately.

I've always believed that there is ALWAYS something to say. No matter the topic.

Has been unusually quiet in this forum lately. Did I miss something?

But two girls/women I know who wore heels regularly, have cripple feet now, and have had for some time. Even Mrs Freddy, a moderate but enthusiastic high heel wearer, has had a number of problems over the (recent) years. While it isn't unknown, I would suggest MOST women have had to give up on heels (except for bedroom time maybe) around 45 years of age. Even if they are able to wear a heel socially, there may no longer be the will to wear one socially. As Mrs Freddy has said (too) many times; "Why am I going to go out in an uncomfortable shoe?" Though 20 years previously, she would go out in a very uncomfortable shoe, and think nothing of it. (Heightened sense of fashion in the young, mutes pain I suppose.)
I find myself wondering how Victoria Beckham and Celine Dion will get around when they get into their older years. They are always wearing incredibly high heels. I wonder what kind of toll it is taking.

Celine is looking alarmingly gaunt, these days. She never was a heavy woman, but she's not looking very healthy lately. I understand she is still grieving, but it almost looks like there may be a health issue as well.....

After a long, hot, tiresome summer, I'm very ready for the cooler temperatures of fall and winter. My first public outing in heels will probably take place, so there's that too.

Getting a job that required longer hours than I had been used to, hasn't helped. I'm not as fit as I need to be to do the work I have been doing, so I've been arriving home fairly tired of late. The heat hasn't helped. We have had 3 or 4 weeks of more temperate weather, and life is getting back to some sort of normality. Longer nights are fast approaching, and we've had one or two particularly cool nights already. Now September, leaves are showing signs the season is turning.
Even though I've had next to no use out of my new camera, the extra income has had me interested in upgrading already. To keep the same style of camera (Micro Four Thirds) and increase pixel count, I have to more than double the budget. That would get me 20mb (up from 16mb), but a change of camera entirely that would get me 24mb, comes in at almost the same money as my current one. I mean the Canon M50. Why more pixels? Better low light capability (usually) and more importantly, more room for cropping. (Using the bit of the image you want, not the whole image.) With an adaptor, Canon's whole range of lenses can be used with the M50.
Maybe later in the year...
I know what you mean about being fit and working in the heat (I'm in my early 50s and live in Texas). Keep us posted on the photography project.

Google says a 'former pupil'?
More or less. Someone who "graduated" from something. Forgive me. Sometimes I forget about the differences between the Queen's English and American English.

It's STILL ridiculously quiet in here. Oh well. (shrug)
